I'm new and have some questions. I finished my first OGR today at 2.66Mnodes/s is that good? I have a K6-III 450mhz and 384mb ram. I'm running it at work also on a Xeon 500mhz 256mb ram... what rate can I expect it to go at?
I don't really know much about OGR, but I do know that the K6 CPU's are better at it then they are at RC5, so that's a good choice for that chip. The Xeon's are supposed to be VERY good at SETI. That might be the best use of that one.
EDIT: I just checked the speed calculator, and it says that the 450 should do about 2.9 MNodes/sec. BUT, that is if it is doing no other work at all, so you're probably about right.
According to dnet's speed database, it looks like a Xeon 500MHz would do somewhere around 3Mnodes/s. The average there for a K6-III 450 is 2.75Mnodes/s. You can find the speed database here.
