OGR-25 Stats for 12 Nov 2000

Looks like we had another interesting day in OGR-25 land yesterday. The 1st spot went to Team Hungary STB+. Where did these guys come from??? For the day they came in with 176.144 Tnodes. Looks like 19 folks managed to come up with that number. Reminds me of an Arsenio Hall bit.......things that make you go hhhmmmm. Could this be the latest in our list of Trojans and Worms??? I guess we will have to check in tomorrow and see if the numbers keep going up.

Back here in the real world, /. beat us out for the 2nd spot with 156.110 Tnodes to our 133.247 Tnodes. The Amiga Team came in 4th with 94.335 Tnodes and the DPCs found themselves in 7th for the day with 54.662 Tnodes.

The Wonder Monkeys seemed to hold on to the 9th spot in the dailies with 50.806 Tnodes on the day.

In the grand scheme of things, /. has extended their lead out to 1,059.132 Tnodes. We need to get out there are assimilate some more folks to count rulers with us. Maybe we need to come up with a contest for a Team Anandtech OGR slide-rule for the person with the most assimilations in a month???

Again, please make sure that your work is being counted to the team and give the 464g beta client a try.

Great job today folks and let's see if we can take that number 1 spot back from / tomorrow. I have updated my tracking graphs and you can check them out here.

Take care,

-Mike

Yep, I get a 10% increase on a PII and a 13% increase on a Celemine, over the 463b client. However, it would be good to have more info from other people, because it seems that while the 464g client helps the Celeron/PIII people substantially, it may in fact decrease speed slightly for the Duron/Athlon types.

Also, if you are going to try 464g, backup your stub in progress first or just wait until the stub is finished, as the new client may restart work on the stub depending on what you were running previously.

And remember, /. is now ahead of us by more than 1000 Tnodes. (To put that in perspective, with my small herd of 7 computers, it would take me a couple of years to reach that number. But to illustrate the strength of numbers... Some single email addresses alone could do it in less than 2 months.). Bottom line, we need some help people - we're still pretty close!

As for the 464g client, it would appear that the only improvement is for the P2-P3-Celeron family, with a slight decrease on AMDs.

To test the beta, execute it from a seperate directory than your normal client. That way, you will not start over the stub in progress and ruin that work already completed. You can copy in your .ini to save a little time, but it has some new features that you should look at in the configuration. By starting the beta with empty buffers, this gives an immediate check of network functionality.

By looking at Mike's graphs, /. has not recovered as well as we have after the stats outage. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues.

My increase in speed over the 463b client looks like it is in the 6.8% range for a PIII700@933. Every little bit helps.

I think /. has pretty much leveled off on their numbers. They may vary a little bit from day to day, but for the most part they are staying on a pretty straight line. We, however tend to be a bit flip floppy. For the past few days though you can see a bit of a downward trend. Hopefully we can get that trend going the other way after the return of everyone's work herds for the Monday run.

We shall see.

I guess I'll leave my three OGR machines running 463b since they all have amd K6-3 400's, unless someone reports that the new beta is faster with this cpu.
