When ever i open a folder that has videos that are previewed as thumbnails, or folders that contain video files and wants to preview them on the folder thumbnail this Ogg direct show filter is activated. Down in the task bar on the right this Ogg icon appears and it eats up my CPU. If I go into my task manager I cant end it either, it just shows up as my explorer eating up all the CPU speed. Anyone know what this Ogg thing is or how I can get rid of it?

It sounds like your installation of the Ogg DirectShow codec (an alternative AVI playback format) has become corrupted and needs to be reinstalled. It should be listed in the Add/Remove Programs window as oggfilters. You can download the newest version here.

Try using K-lite. I think it tries to detect other directshow codecs/packs on install, and gives the option to remove them.

You are correct, at the end(or is it right before?) of the K-Lite codec installation it will give you an advanced menu that one of the options is for it to remove any broken or damaged codecs already installed on your pc.
