Old Dell Insprion 4100. Basically falling apart.

Considering a netbook (something like the Dell mini 9), after they start using the Poulsbo chipset. Or I might splurge and get a macbook instead.

Sony TZ150N (small and light but desperately needs a SSD)
Sony S560P (battery now last like 30min)

Doesn't that contradict the purpose of owning a laptop?

Nope. I carry lighter weight ThinkPads when I travel around the country and do a lot of walking. Believe me every bit I can save helps my shoulder and back.

The heavier laptop I usually keep in the office as my desktop or at home.

Yeah, I am very happy with mine. Got it for 807 with a 2yr warranty from BBY.

Me too! I love my 8-cell though - 6 hour battery life is great. I don't usually hold the tablet when writing though.

R61e. I <3 my thinkpad to death. Would not trade for any other laptop.

edit: Except an IdeaPad. But I'm waiting for one to come out with a trackpoint.

I should also add that I hate laptops with a passion. No capacity for real games and its mobility seems useless with anything less than 4hrs of total battery life per charge (not to mention needing to find wifi at random places).. then all you really have is a doorstop until you get to a charger again. Just something you have to be mindful of all the time - or you can just have wires all over the place while being "mobile". Point me to my reliable desktop station any day.

Compaq C500. Celeron M 440 cpu, 80gb HD, 2gb ram, Vista HP. Runs it perfectly well. I use word/outlook and do light web stuff with it. I just write on it. I paid about $400 for it last year at a deal at Best Buy. Runs surprisingly cool, but it gets the job done and has been super reliable.

I just bought the woman a HP dv4z. It's a nice machine. The HD3200 graphics on it let her game reasonably well which is a huge plus.

Asus W3J - Intel Core Duo T2400 (1.830GHz); 2.5GB RAM; ATI MR X1600; Seagate Momentus 7200.1 100.0 GB; 14.1" WXGA

Works great with both Windows XP (SP3) and Ubuntu 8.04.

The next time I get a computer (laptop specifically), I'll probably go with an integrated graphics machine, just for the more battery life and at this point, they provide more processing power than I ever use.

P-6860FX

Can't think of anything negative to say about it.
Other than the price I paid for such a nice laptop is almost criminal. (about the same as LegendKiller)

i have a t60 14.1". the speakers indeed are crap (and they were lousy on the T40 as well)

also, the screen isnt anything to write home about, but i have the high-res one so im happy enough with it.

those aside, i love this thing and expect i wont want anything but a thinkpad for a long time to come. i just wish there was a better linux implementation for the fingerprint scanner. i use it to power-on and thats it :-/

I  my T23
but it's getting old :(
even the new atom's are faster than the t23 (p3)

im holding off and hope someone will make a netbook with a trackpoint (I was hopin the s10 would have that instead of the trackpad, it would have saved even more space)

Still going strong on my Inspiron e1505. Only changes I've made is upgrading the RAM to 2GB.

My only complaint is my battery going kaput, but after two years anything goes in that area.
