Offline mapping program like Yahoo/Google/etc

Right now I'm using Microsoft 'Streets and Trips 2004' and....well, it's alright, but....

No, no it really sucks.

I miss Google/Yahoo map features. I want to put in an address to map, zoom out to a certain level, and, say, find all the Starbucks on the map. Or Italian restaurants. Or all the bookstores.

How Yahoo maps does this is awesome.

MS Streets and Trips KINDA does it....but there is no function to update the database online. So, for example, it has ZERO Starbucks locations in Vancouver, WA despite the fact Google maps can fine TEN. It's a LITTLE more useful in Portland, where it helpfully finds TWO locations.

Which is great.

You know.

Given that the yellow pages pull up 72 Starbucks in the Portland metro area. And MS Street and Trips can find TWO of them.

Any program just a *little* bit more useful to use offline? With, say, a feature to update its database of addresses periodically?

...hey, it'd be nice information to have, no?

Bumping this, since I'm still looking for options.

What are the opinions on the Rand McNally 'StreetFinder' mapping software?

Or, the generic-sounding 'Street Atlas USA 2005'?

Any other software packages like that?

1. Destinator
2. iGuidance
3. Routis
4. Delorme Street Atlas USA
5. CoPilot

Just listing the ones I've used. I don't usually have a reason to look for coffee shops so I'm not sure which has the best database.
