If it was not for India Russia would have fell long ago. Did India offered US any help when Russia was invading Afghanistan? No, they made trade pacts with Russia, bought military equipment from them. They are siding with US now because Russia is no longer a superpower. Pakistan always pays dearly for siding with the US.

Perhaps if the Nixon administration had not threatened to attack India for liberating Bangladesh in 1971, Russia wouldn't have had to save India's backside by threatening to get involved, thereby putting India in her debt for quite sometime - at least until Russia was pressurized by the U.S to not sell cryogenic technology to India, which was about the time India started disengaging from their suffocating embrace of Russia. And Russia's support for the Kashmir issue in the UNSC was another reason why India was so close to Russia.

BTW, Musharraf himself has stated several times that he believes OBL to be holed up in the remote tribal areas and frequently travelling between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In this particular incident though, I don't think Pakistan is so much at fault as the U.S is. As the senior partner in virtually any international engagement, the onus is always on the U.S to get the plan right. Unfortunately, that is a huge ask and mistakes will be made occasionally. I just wish the people making the mistakes had the guts to stand up every once in a while and show some contrition. It hasn't happened very often with this U.S administration.

If you read my posts, which you never do with any thread you post in, I clearly was insinuating that Bush threatened them on some level in order to get them to cooperate. India attacking was never part of the equation. By bringing in India to the subject I was just showing how completely inept the conventional Pakistani military is.

Musharraf would never put himself on the line for no reason. Pakistan has more hardline ISlamists than even Iran, they still have honor killings. But it doesn't matter to me they are both crapholes. Don't think for a second that we can't take out Pakistan. What are they going to do once their nuclear capibility is gone?

Actually this is funny I checked for myself. On the Yahoo site I posted, is a slide show but there are more pictures of al-Zawahri then of what was going on there today.
