***OFFICIAL YANKEES THREAD 2006***

DIE YANKEES DIE. :|

Hopefully, this year Boston will win their division and a Central team will get the WC.

Yay, what is the starting lineup?

Pitching rotation?

Sorry, but I have missed all the sporting news for the past few months now.

Yanks always kill Zito. Zito is a total flake and Beane is gonna trade him for sure to some contender for some big time prospects.

The Yankees rotation is:

Johnson, Mussina, Wang, Chacon and Proctor (???) Pavano is hurt and I think Jaret Wright is gonna work some bullpen sessions. Aaron Small is on the DL.

Yankees won't need a 5th starter for about a month, Torre thinks Wright will be back by then.

Starting lineup is:

J. Damon, CF
D. Jeter, SS
G. Sheffield, RF
A. Rodriguez, 3B
J. Giambi, 1B
H. Matsui, LF
J. Posada, C
B. Williams, DH
R. Cano, 2B

That's a pretty scary lineup.

Does Bernie still have anything left in his tank? A little skeptical about him as DH.

RBI basehit already tonight.
I think Bernie is gonna suprise alot of people. I don't think he's done.

The Red Sox cannot and WILL NOT be stopped this year. It's in the bag, might as well end the season today.

Red Sox 2006 W.S. Champs. Kthxbye.

BAHAHAHA!

game over...I can go to sleep now. I was hoping for a pitchers dual but forgot that Zito can never beat the Yanks.

I was also hoping for a decent pitching duel between Zito and Johnson.

Go Red Sox! 😛

I'm sure he can still get hits but he's not the prototypical DH.
DH usually bats cleanup and hits for power.

True, but the Yankees don't need power from that spot in the lineup. How many DH's bat in the 8 spot? They have a swtich-hitting DH, that's pretty good. 🙂

The Yankees definitely have the offense to go all the way this year, but I still think their pitching is a little weak.

With this kind of offensive power (IF it performs), the Yankees don't need good pitching to win...

I'm predicting double digit average in runs this year from the Yanks.

That's too optimistic. The American league record for runs in a season is 1,067. To break that over 162 games that's 6.5+ per game. If the Yanks stay healthy and the big guys like A-Rod and Giambi have good years that's VERY doable for this lineup.
