To be fair to Ortiz though, as far as I could tell from that replay, he really did have an equipment malfunction. Can't help but think it was the Babe ;) Not to say their feilding hasn't been horrendous; it certainly has. What's Nomaaaah have so far this series, 3 errors? :Q

Yeah, he had an "equipment malfunction" in the same way that Janet Jackson had a "wardrobe malfunction". And let's not rag on Nomar, so far this series he's been one of New York's most productive players. :D

He'll end up on the Yanks. So will Damon.

There are 3 players on the Redsox that need some grooming.
Fluffy Pedro
Fluffy Manny
and Bigfoot Damon

Funny how all the Blowsox fans disappear when their team loses a game and magically reappears in full force when their team wins.

No joke, it seemed like it either slipped through a gap in the leather webbing of his glove's pocket, or maybe its impact broke off a piece of the rawhide lacing, allowing for a gap big enough for it to get through... Either way, it didn't look like it was his fault. And yeah, Boston's paying the guy doing the most for the Yankees ;)

I'll let the Skankees fans talk all their sh!t now, just like we did when we swept your asses earlier in the season. Let the Yankees peak now, because it'll be all downhill from there. It's a long, long way until October boys, and thus far you've been lucky that you've had no major injuries to any of your 20 all-stars on your team. But, I'll be happy to see Quantrill, Gordon, and Rivera as 1-2-3 in most appearences. Burn them out for the October stretch run and the playoffs.
I'm actually disgusted with the way the Sox have been playing like a bunch of little leaguers. Errors, and men left on base = deserving to be 7 1/2 games back. Epstein better pull something out of his ass before July 31, or this is going to be a long, long end of summer. They need a spark to light the fire. Fire Francona? Who will they replace him with? I'd love to get Jimy Williams back, but the Stros won't fire a manager on the All Star team, in their home city, until after the break.

LOL the Yankees have had injuries/illnesses to Giambi and Brown, and Sheff has a bum shoulder... yet they still are 7.5 games up on the Sux... go figure.

Actually, from what I saw, they showed the replay in slo mo from a side view and it went off the big lip of his first base mitt, not through his webbing. To me it looked like he didn't bend over quick enough. If it wasn't for Ortiz, the Sox wouldn't have even had 2 runs so I guess it evened out.

If not for Ortiz, the Sox might be 20 games back. He might be the MVP of the AL for the first half.
Either Ortiz, Gurerro or Pudge.

Yankees are owning the Red Sox. Whoever doubted the Yankees because of their poor start was badly mistaken. I knew the Yankees would recover and they will most likely win the division. The Red Sox looks like another Wild Card team.

Wooo hooo, Nomar's benched tonight. At least we'll stand a chance of having less than 5 errors tonight.

Really, the only way to look at the situation right now if you're a Sox fan is, hey, we're 27-28 in our last 55, and in the same spot the Yanks were earlier in the season. I think that things will invariably even out. I don't think the Sox will necessarily win the division, but they should certainly at least have the Wild Card and not be 7.5 games behind the Yankees at the end of the season.

Halsey actually impressed me tonight. Now we just have to hammer that bullpen, before Gordon and Rivera come in...

Side note... I was also keeping track of stats using MLB gameday... According to that, Bernie hit a walk-off to left in the bottom of the 12th (yes, they mixed up Manny and Bernie). Man, I feel sorry for anyone keeping track of the game that way ;).

What a crushing loss for the Red Sux. Your best pitcher starting versus a nobody, a game you absolutely MUST win, bases loaded in the 11th with nobody out and can't score, take the lead in the 13th, 2 out and nobody on for the Bombers in the bottom of the 13th and STILL they found a way to lose.

Stick a fork in the Sux, they're done.
