What are the medals? They almost look like CD's or something, or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I remember someone on nbc mention the shape has to do with Italian culture or something of that sort.

not surprised white won, but he definetly isn't the best boarder in the world not by a long shot.

Aaaarrrgggghh... I got burned with the men's half pipe results yesterday when I went to ESPN to check basketball scores (on the front page, complete with picture).

I was hoping that NBC would at least try to keep some mystery since it's their coverage.

I go to NBC's site to see what's going to be shown tonight and they have the women's half pipe results (with picture). :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :| :|

that's lame. thanks for the head's up though. knowing the results just totally ruins it for me.

I've been checking the sports pages for what events are playing when.

The Olympics isn't live for the east coast either. Sucks. NBC should make the Olympic events live.

Yup...it was like night and day. The Finnish boarders had no amplitude by the bottom of the pipe and White was still getting sky.

Still, watching snow boarding in the Olympics makes you wonder when skate boarding will be added to the Summer Olympics.

there are MANY other pros that could due exactly what white does. Just last year I remember reading a quote by him saying something along the lines of "he stays out of the back country because its too sketchy". He was in first descent this year, which I haven't seen so I don't know how well he did but I still think there are many people that if they wanted to could practice day after day in the park just like he does and come out ahead of him.

To me Travis Rice throwing double rodeo 1080's over 140ft gaps (Example) is much more impressive than riding a perfectly groomed pipe. Thats the same gap tanner hall broke both his ankles on.

so he crashes once off a rediculously large jump and lands a double backflip the second time and he's automatically better? There is something to be said for throwing down 2 nearly perfect runs with 4-6 tricks vs. Video taping yourself landing a trick once over a jump that doesn't take skill to get airtime.

If he is better then he should be able to beat the best and get to the olympics.

man I cant stand this, why cant CNN and ESPN and all the other sites have links to Olympic results instead of having them on the front page, I refuse to go to those pages because it will ruin the events for me that are on tape-delay

I was flipping around channels this morning and started watching women's curling - the US vs. Norway - and couldn't leave it until it was over. Last night it was the same thing with the women's biathlon. You can get drawn into some of the strangest sports during the Winter Olympics.

We kicked ass in Mens Curling, despite the coach's son being on the team and messing up A LOT

twice in a row all he had to do was get the stone anywhere on the target, first time would have assured 2 points, but he missed. then with the last stone (the hammer) he totally missed it, when it passed the outermost target it was still going full speed! so we got no points that time. Damn Coaches son

<----knows too much about curling after last night :)

hehe, that's what's great about the Olympics. The mere spectacle of it and the fact it's the pinnacle of Sports causes people to go outside the norm and watch all kinds of events they'd normally avoid.
