Bwhahaha. Yes I knew you were joking, and so was I. But this is just classic.
Of course that is in australia. I am going to delude myself into thinking that they won't be available in US for another 6 months anyway.
They have, one in Japan and one in Germany. Be aware that this information came via the 360 drives database site and it has been known to be a little unreliable. But I know at least one of the black Elites had photos. They are definately making the things, and I cannot see the Elite being discontinued as they possibly need a machine with a min of 120GB for all the upcoming stuff. I have come across loads of people that have just about filled their 120GB.

I just came back from my local Fry's Electronics store (@ Fountain Valley) and they have in stock JASPER Elites! Yeap, the ones in the new packaging with less accessories (white box, not the dark gray box).
I checked and you can clearly see the 12.1A. It had a manufacturing date of 2009. Didn't bother to check the LOT # (forgot about it).
The price was $399, so I'm waiting a month or so until the rumored price cut happen.

Black Elite Jasper: ACQUIRED!
I had actually purchased a black Elite Falcon at the beginning of the summer, but it <cough> suddenly developed problems right about the same time as these new Jasper Elites started appearing... Fortunately, I was still within my 90-day return policy, so the store was nice enough to swap my <cough> defective Falcon for a brand-new Jasper. I only switched the actual console itself, so I still have the HDMI cable, digital-optical adapter, Halo 3 / Fable 2, etc. Plus, I got back $60 since the price had dropped!
I just attached my original hard drive, and everything is working beautifully. Do I need to do the "license transfer" process? All my downloaded Xbox Live Arcade games are already working fine, as are some videos I purchased. I'll apparently need to delete & reinstall game to the hard drive, but other than that I haven't found any problems with the console switch.
Oh, and for those of you hunting for black Elite Jaspers: the local Best Buy had a ton of 'em in the new white boxes, and every one I checked had a July 2009 manufacturing date. I checked the amperage on one, and confirmed it's a Jasper. Target had a mix: some store had the new white-box Jaspers, others had the older grey-box Falcons. I didn't see any older units packaged in the new white boxes. It's certainly possible, so you should double-check the manufacturing date. And the amperage, if possible.

well, if you can go by manufacturing date, all 5 of the new box elite's I saw at best buy were built in the last 3 months.

200% chance they are jaspers, especially considering they are custom cases. All the new 360's are jaspers, just have to make sure you don't get one that's been sitting on the shelf for a while.
