OFFICIAL: XBox 2 to be revealed May 12th

I'm curious what sort of MediaCenter 2005 integration it will support. I hope the extender functionality is built-in (ie, doesn't require a second purchase).

Damn...I'm gonna have to put MTV back in my program lineup just for this now....

The first one did, so yea, most likely.

As soon as it's announced I'm placing my preorders at about 5 different Gamestops.

1) Preorder, buy day it comes out
2) Sell on eBay when everyone is sold out
3) ...
4) Profit!

😀

No but seriously, I always preorder my stuff as early as possible. Just makes sense

Well, this will be interesting but I wonder if their advertisment agency is going to be as bad with this as they have always been If so, no one will remember it.

Oh it'll be not only a second purchase, but they'll most likely break that purchase into 4 more seperate purchaces. It'll be like building with legos, you need different sets to make the 1 complete set!

That's a great marketing idea in my opinion...definitely will get the message to a their core group...especially if it is replayed the way normal MTV shows are.

divx / mov / rm support also ? That's why I love XBMC. Otherwise I will be less inclined to purchase...

I doubt it will be $300. Many analysts also doubt it. Still, without word from MS, it's mere speculation. Game prices are said to be $54.99 or $59.99 for first rate titles for the next-gen systems. Seems only logical a slight increase in consoles prices will appear as well. I'd guess a $349.99 launch price.

will there be a HARD DRIVE? that's all that matters.

Current rumours are saying a 40gig drive. MS hasn't said anything offical. Also, another rumour is an upgradable HD will follow for folks needing more than the stock 40gig drive.

Current rumor is two versions of the Xbox. One without a hard drive at the regular starting price of around $300 or a little more and one with a hard drive for more $.

Sweet deal. Is anyone actually going to buy one that doesn't have a hard drive? Should be a badass console. Anyone know if it is backwards compatible with the older games?

No word yet on if it is backward compatible. Two completely different architectures plus licensing issues with Nvidia. Last I heard, MS was working on it but wasn't sure if it was worth the cost and effort.

from what i heard...there was not going to be a hard drive at all.
i heard high capacity flash memory. link to hard drive/ non hard drive versions?

Actually, the latest word is that it will have reverse compatiblity. Thats why Microsoft went and bought Virtual PC last year. I can pretty much guarentee it will work, after all, the Xbox 2 has more then enough power to emulate the first one.

Don't care about that junk. I just want to be able to watch live tv, stream music and recorded tv off my MCE box in the living room.

No one knows yet because there have been no offical word or leaked info. The 3 most common rumours are 1) Flash memory instead of HD, 2) unit w/ and w/o HD available, and 3) units have "small" HDs with the ability to upgrade to larger drives.
