Wonder if the US will take some specific retaliatory action. I think they have to, just to show that it's not acceptable to kidnap and kill americans.

you beat me to it. I guess not being the first bringer of bad news is a good thing.

Very sad.

Like I suggested before, we should just get rid of that whole entire part of the world, except for the oil. Shoot. :(

My sympathies to his family and friends. :(

silverpig: I think a number of people have been speculating that this kidnapping was performed with the intent to erode relations between America and President Musharrif's government in Pakistan (being the most pro-Western and hell, though a dictatorship accrued through a coup, the best government they've had in a long time).

Hopefully people will grasp that and try to strengthen the bonds there and continue to weed out the, uh, weeds.

apparently killed because he was pressing hard and "knew too much" info that could get his would-be captors in trouble. :(

of course there are probably a number of reasons....

Osully:

What makes you say that it's the best govt. they had ? Besides govt. is worthless if the more than half the population of that country is jehadi scum. Don't forget this are the same people who were supporting taliban and osama till 9/11. There should be no bonding with those morons

Osully: I didn't necessarily mean against another nation. Maybe they'll send in some extra CIA guys to do some investigating, and then the marines once they've found the guys...

I think, as it stands right now, it could be viewed as the murder of an American in a foreign country. I don't know if the US has any legal right to conduct their own investigation with their own police/investigators, but I wonder if they will send in people anyways.

That would be great, but the whole skin colour and language thing probably means no go. I doubt the CIA or any other American government agency has very many brown-skinned, Urdu-fluent operatives to activate. Especially considering what seems to be the edging away from human intelligence towards using satellites/electronics to gather information in today's CIA.

You guys don't watch the news? It's the guy that went to the middle east to get a story and was kidnapped by those stupid extremist groups.

I think you would be surprised. They recruit heavily for people that would help them with gathering intelligence from these countries.
