outfield single two more for the fish, 3-1 now
I think so. Fat bastard should lose 50 lbs and keep it off, that would go a long way toward alleviating the back problem. If going out after 1 inning of a WS game doesn't convince you of that, nothing will.Originally posted by: RishiSWhy did they just pull Wells from the game? Back pain?

also, wasn't the pre-ventura 3rd baseman a WS mvp a few years ago too?

I think it was more of Wilson's fault, he got too excited...

IF the Yankees lose tonite and go on to lose the WS, do you think there is ANY chance that Steinbrenner is going to want to resign David Wells??
i mean, his going out tonite with back spasms HAS to be considered about 60% a conditioning issue.

its not a disrespect thing. he puts it out so he can balance himself in the batters box, and also, it removes temptation to put his hand around the bat and possibly make his hands more sweaty so he wont get as good of a grip. as soon as he's ready, he brings that hand down and grips the bat tightly, and its right before the pitch arrives, so he has that few seconds of an extra tight grip. at least, thats my guess. i used to play baseball, and i did something similar and that was my logic.Originally posted by: larciel
quick Q.
why does jeter put this fist to the umpire when he comes to bat?..
is he saying that ' I'm not ready'.. so don't let the pitcher throw before I'm ready? kinda thing?...
if so.. i think that's really arrogant jesture... he's putting himself higher than the umpire..
