Puerto Rico beats the Dominican Republic 7 - 1. Some great pitching, timely hitting and taking advantage of DR's defensive mistake took care of the much vaunted Dominican murderers row lineup.

Now up its Korea vs Mexico.

Jae Seo pitches for Korea...<sigh>....freakin Omar getting rid of the damn Mets pitching depth. Wow...that stadium is packed for that game!!

I think these games have been awesome. I'm glad ESPN is finally televising the games live. I had to listen to the first round on XM because I can't stand watching sports games on tape delay.

Harold Reynolds on ESPN called the US winning it all. I didn't think they had a chance, but by getting by japan, who knows

Jae Seo has so far pitched 5 strong innings for Korea in front of a packed pro-Mexico crowd.

I've been really impressed with him. I think the dodgers got a steal when they traded for him so cheaply.

Bad Call, clearly it was in his glove when he was still on the plate.

That seems to be the general consensus. If it was a bad call, it is a DISGRACE!
In international play, everything is magnified. You are not just disrespecting a team, but a nation. Hats off to these Japanese players though.

PR opened up on DR because of Soriano's mistake. That guy should be a full-time DH because he's a defensive liability at 2B and I don't blame the Nats for wanting to move him to LF.

As for Seo, the Dodgers got a steal. They traded away a relief pitcher and a minor leaguer for a starter and a minor leaguer.

damn, that was an impressive pitching display btwn Korea and Mexico.

Man, we're getting some awesome baseball games w/ the WBC.

and ya, I'm a Dodgers fan, so I'm happy the Dodgers aquired Seo.

you kidding me? South Korea vs Mexico in Southern Cal.

that's got to be one of the hottest tickets so far in the WBC.

the hell? it looks like the USA v. Korea game won't be shown live.

I forked over $10 to get online access to audio/video feeds of the games, which is a good deal, but it's still lame that it's not being broadcast on a network. hopefully next year they'll take this more seriously.

I still can't believe the mets got rid of Seo. That was a dumb move.

There's been some awesome baseball so far. Seems like every team (besides the US) is playing their hearts out.

P.Rico downed D.Rep!? Wow, great pitching to stop that murderer's row of a lineup. Didn't know the games were on XM, I'll have to listen to the games. 😀

i will be suprised if US wins it. they are playing like crap. if not for the BS call odds are they would not have won the other day.

it seems they are takeing it easy sot hey don't get hurt and miss the season.

I was real excited about the WBC until I saw the USA/JAPAN game, now that we know the games are rigged there is no point in even watching.

went to the USA-JAPAN game yesterday, that was the craziest call i had seen, not that he was called out, but called out so long after the play, not sure if they showed it on TV, but then Japan refused to come onto the field for at least 5 minutes, they just stood in their dugout refusing to accept the call...it was pretty crazy

yeah, they did show the japanese team in the dugout refusing to come out for a bit.

also, the dominican republic/cuba gaming is starting right now on espn.

I was watching it on TV, and yes, they did mention that Japan refused to take the field. They never went on a commercial break since the call was so controversial. Great game, too bad it was cheapened by the bad call.

And that Mexico vs. Korea game was amazing too!

damn, in the 5th inning ortiz smashed the crap outta the ball and afterwards flipped his bat and gave the cuba catcher a nice 3 second stare down. guess thats what happens when your pitchers come in high and in one too many times.

usa vs. korea and puerto rico vs. venazuela plus l&o: svu in case those games are in commercial. 24 later on tonight? im in tv heaven right now.

My native Puerto Rico lost to Venezuela 6 - 0..<sigh>

Korea really plays like one cohesive unit ..a very fundamentally sound ballclub! Plus the huge Korean population there must be pumping them up! If Korea wins they will be the only undefeated team.

Damn, Korea's just owning it up. PRobably one of the most underrated teams. Never knew Korea's pitching was friggin insane. OK It helps when you got Seo, BK Kim, and Chan Ho Park, lol.
