Official Verizon Droid Froyo 2.2 Update

I've had it for about a week and a half. It seems to be working fine, and I have no customizations to my Droid.

Yes, and if you have rom manager it will cancel the install once you tell it to. You still have to run through that process or it keeps bugging you.

I'm waiting for the officially stable release of CM 6 for my Droid.
I am so impatient, I can barely wait for this. Don't feel like dealing with little bugs here and there, and hell, I am still on 5.0.7.1.

Here's to hoping my favorite UI package / theme, DarkEdge UI, will see a stable release soon after CM6 goes stable.

FWIW i never had any stability issues with RC2 or 3

and a buddy at work got 2.2 pushed OTA to his droid yesterday

Was Flash 10.1 not included with this update? The adobe flash test does not seem to work correctly.

Was Flash 10.1 not included with this update? The adobe flash test does not seem to work correctly.

If you go to a flash page, Adobe will say that Flash will be released for the Droid later this year.

Just received an update this morning to my phone, I went from FRG01B to FRG22D.

Not sure if the Linux kernel was updated, I did not write down the pre-update numbers. I know that it is still 2.6.32 (what I had with FRG01B), but the last part is .9 (which I am not sure is the same or not).

You have to go into the Market and download Adobe Flash.

Now, how do I enable that auto-update functionality for apps that I recall being part of 2.2? Finally, anyway to get rid of these damn Amazon MP3 and Facebook "apps" that came preloaded with the phone? They do not have an option for uninstall...

Auto-update seems to be on from the start, at least partially. When you go to the Downloads section of the Market, whenever you click on an app there is a box to tick that controls auto-update. From my brief experiences with it thus far, it appears sometimes it enables it automatically, other times you have to check the box. Also, what is great is any app that does have auto-update enabled, will still require a manual update from time to time... I think this only happens when there is a change in the security privileges.

As for removing pre-installed apps, this requires Root access.

Seriously considering rooting my Droid Incredible. HTC Sense certainly isn't worth it to me, all their apps are buggy as hell and crash sporadically.

Part of your issue may very well be caused by HTC and not necessarily Verizon. I don't know what Verizon specifically added to the various Froyo releases on the different phones, but regardless of what was added it was HTC that actually packaged it all together (something possibly added at Verizon's demand, of course).

But when did you upgrade to 2.2 ?
Most users' experience shows that the first day after the upgrade to Froyo brings about a very slow phone, as the phone has dedicated important resources to the background sync services, to download previously-installed apps and user account settings.
Even with added apps, not many of them actually run in the background (except for HTC services). Froyo is the first release that actually included JIT, which significantly improves performance across the board. I can't imagine why a phone running 2.2 at stock settings could possibly be slower than 2.1 at stock settings, beyond the first day of use at least. If it is indeed slower even after the first day, you might want to check if any of your currently-installed apps are slowing the system down, i.e. not as compatible with 2.2 as they may have stated.

If you are running any task killer services, uninstall them immediately. They are absolutely unnecessary in Android, especially when on Android 2.2. Froyo has an even better task management system.

You may want to search the web for other users with the Incredible and 2.2, to see if anyone has determined if any specific applications may be causing decreased performance.

Couldn't find a changelog for the first Froyo release.
And I couldn't find a more in-depth list of specifics, but that does seem to do a fairly decent job of covering what they changed.

If you are looking for the more specific list of changes 2.2 brought, and not the specific builds from Motorola/Verizon, this covers basically everything.
