As much as I love the Twins, I must say they have a bad habit of getting expectations up and then dying horribly.
Vikings and Timberwolves have been known to do the same thing.

At least the twins and Timberwolves are nowhere near as bad as the Vikings :p

They get our hopes up really high and have a wonderful habit of falling flat.

Twins are the best.... I just went to a game there! (I'm out here in rural Minnesota so I don't head to the cities all that often)

Morneau's good, but I'm more impressed with Mauer. He's leading the league in batting and he's a FREAKIN' CATCHER.

Okay, after the way the Twins drubbed the Tigers today, going 3/4 for the series, with Liriano returning Wednesday, I want to go out on a limb and predict that they will win the AL Central outright. The final series with the White Sox will still matter, since the Sox, Tigers, and Twins will essentially be fighting for two playoff spots, but when the dust settles, the Twins will win. Their offense is back, Liriano is back, and they continue to have awesome defense and the best bullpen in major league baseball. Climb on the bandwagon now!

Liriano started today against the A's and in the third inning is taken out with an injury. Bad news for the Twins for sure. No specifics yet on the injury.

Oakland leads 1-0 in the 6th inning in a must win contest for the slumping A's.

Congrats to the Twins! They are playoff bound. What a season for the Twinkies. They looked DEAD the first 2 months then just exploded and now they eliminate the White Sox and are heading to the playoffs. They can still win the division but in any case its the Twins, Tigers, Yanks and if they win today the A's all going to the playoffs.

I saw them in Baltimore on Sunday, damn good to see my Twins doing well. I was in the Thunderdome for 87 and 91!

I can't help but quote myself since, three weeks later, my prediction came true! I was at the Twins game today and it was easlily the most exciting sporting event I've ever attended (including one World Series game). After the Twins won, most of the 45,000 Twins fans and all the Twins stayed around to watch the last couple of innings of the Detroit-KC game. It was SO great - first one huge burst of excitement when the Twins won (sealing Joe Mauer's batting crown), and another when the Tigers lose. I'm exhausted, my throat is sore, my ears and head are ringing, and I'm lovin' every minute of it.

My prediction: the Yanks will spank and possibly sweep the dispirited Tigers, and the Twins will take the As in 3 or 4.
