I really liked the look of the concept version. Don't like the production version nearly as much, but it is nice to see Toyota build a car that my mom wouldn't be interested in for the first time in a long time.

why do people like this, it's only 200hp. If it were 250 this would be more special IMO.

Because you don't need 5 gajillion horsepower for a car to be fun? A lightweight car with a low center of gravity and good handling can be a blast to drive even if it isn't the fastest thing in the world in a straight line.

The power to weight ratio is about the same as a V6 mustang and it should handle better. If it's cheaper than the mustang it could a fun little cheap car.

It's amazing that it's only 2660lb. That's 100lb less than the S14 240sx, and this is a car that meets modern safety standards.

Mustang has a p/w ratio of 11.3:1, while this has a 12.5:1 which I wouldn't categorize as "about the same." I would expect that if a turbo version is released, that would be the real gem.

Ugh, that wheel gap is awful. Who wants to bet a lowered suspension will be available at the stealership as a option?

Well it's the first RWD compact 2+2 since the 240sx left America. You aren't excited about that?

No. Why would anyone want a 2+2 compact? By definition it means useless back seats that would be better if they were removed for increased storage capacity.

I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers, a 2012 V6 mustang has a curb weight of 3750 lb and produces 305 hp (from ford's website here).
3750lb/305hp = 12.3 lb/hp.

How is it backwards? It has the same orientation as the one in my car, and it never crossed my mind that it was backwards.

Nevermind I read it backwards :p The needle was covering the lower part of the E, so it looked like an F at first glance and for some reason I focused just on that, ignoring the rest of the gauge somehow. D'oh.

I think 3750 is way too high and may be incorrect. It also lists the Camaro as 3750. As far as I know, the Mustang is quite a bit lighter than the Camaro.

Here we have the Mustangs listed as under 3600 pounds.

My 240sx had usable back seats. If you can fit two hot chicks in the back seat, it's big enough

Too bad a lot of people will just see.. OMG 200hp weaksauce. Although FT-86 is also much cheaper than the more powerful 350z, so no one is expecting it to be as powerful when they're shopping for the 86. It's nice to have the option of a good handling sexy sports car at that pricepoint.
Sports car is defined by the platform rather than the power. Just look at the miata ;).

Unless you like amputees, you aren't going to fit 2 hot chicks in the back seat. Your 240sx is 14 inches longer than this Toyota. To give you an idea how small this car is. Here is a picture someone created with it overlayed an S2000:

Imagine putting a roof on an S2000, and then trying to squeeze a back seat into the car that 2 human beings could use. Looking at that picture, I'm having doubts about how the average American will be able to fit in the front seats...

The 240sx had a shorter wheelbase, 99.4" vs 101". The Mustang wheelbase is only 6" longer than this car.
