Hey, I didn't see any recipes for Thanksgiving started yet and I figured I had better jump on this thing early!

I'm supposed to make something for Thanksgiving but I don't know what I should bring! I need like a side-dish kinda thing, but feel free to post any cool recipes for Thanksgiving in general so I get really hungry and get more excited about this Thursday :)

I think my favorite side dish I've helped make has to be the White Castle Stuffing. It sounds gross, but it's yummy :p:D

What are your favorite dishes?

Sure what the hell, Id eat a turkey stuffed with White Castles.

Here we eat deboned chicken packed into a duck packed full of crawfish stuffing. This duck is then shoved inside a deboned turkey and voila the "Turducken". Yummmy.......3 kinds of birds and three kinds of stuffing.......

Somebody posted a zuchinni bread recipe a while back that sounded great. I can't find the thread though. :(

Are pizza places open on Thanksgiving because that is what it looks like I'll be resorting to?

You shouldn't stay on campus. At least go out to some place and have a nice dinner if you're not going to have a turkey at home. I think turkey in your new apt. while watching football would be the best situation for you. That's a win-win situation.

I have to stay on campus unless someone wants to hand me $400 for plane tickets home.

Drive! :)
I wouldn't be able to get home until after thanksgiving dinner had already occurred. I would then be able to stay for 12 hours before I would have to turn around and do it all over again. 36 hours of driving in 4 days is not going to happen.

Not around here. I had to resort to going to the store the day before and getting some food. I think I had pasta.

Layered Vegetable Salad
I use a 13x9x2 glass baking dish but a large salad bowl...really large would work too.

1 bag of salad greens...not a real small bag...I like a spring mix
1/4 to 1/2 cup of celery chopped fine
1/4 cup chopped onions ( I usually use green onions)
10 oz package of frozen peas
1/4 cup of chopped green pepper
1/2 jar of bacon bits....you can use more if you like

Layer all the above ingredients

Mix 1 pint of Fat Free Mayo with 2 tablespoons of sugar and spread this over the top of the salad
Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and keep in the frig for 8-12 hours

Edit: I've also got a Sweet Potato Souffle recipe I'll post as soon as I can decipher my mom's handwriting. :)

What does that salad end up tasting like? I think I'd end up skipping on the peas, but the rest sounds interesting.

Taste like? Umm...good? :)

You can change up the veggies however you like. I generally tweak it by adding or removing different veggies each time I make it.
