yea i'm using him so far but he plays so dfiferent. i havent played it much the past few days, working on a project before i can dig into it, then going to aruba on the 17th. probably won't take it too serious until i get back.

im currently using rog and ryu, but i am going to try and learn other people.

Tekken was such a good game, I hope that they'll release the new one soon. But somehow, I wish they also made Tekken x DOA. I always seem to compare both games to each other.

i'm still liking this game just really hoping they patch the sound issue online. it distracts the shit out of me and i just have issues. i use sound cues for a lot of stuff in fighters in general. i would rather play with NO sound at all than the way it currently is working online.

i'm still trying to get the hang of this game though. im going to try and put more time into it now that i'm back from vacation and finished my other project, so now i have time to try and dig in.

i've been trying to learn kazuya and using him paired up with ryu for now and liking it so far.

just so hard being such a noob at these games trying to learn em! but so fun and rewarding too!

and on top of that, it was exposed already that all 12 DLC characters are already completed and on the disc. so capcom can have time to do DLC prior to the game even releasing, but they can't fix a fucking issue with the sound that is a MAJOR glitch in the online mode?

I'm wondering if this is one of those things that is hard for people that aren't game developers to grasp (I'm not one). Chances are that once a team (art, sound, etc.) is done with the main game, they get pushed onto working on DLC (also, I assume smaller subsets of the team could be moved around as stuff winds down). The thing is, I wouldn't assume that new characters would really require a lot of programming. They require artwork, sound effects and someone to setup the parameters (damage, etc.), but none of that sounds like work that a network or sound programmer would be doing.

well im a developer, not a game developer, and when we finish one task before the deadline, we help fix whatever else is left to fix for us to put out a successful release that is as close to bug free as possible. we don't move onto future releases if there is a chance of major bugs being in the current release, and this sound glitch is a MAJOR bug. i would assume that this type of thing would happen in most areas of development, but it may not be the case.

along with the items you mentioned as being required, they also have to do the balancing of the characters as well as come up with the moves and playstyles. i'm sure that stuff takes quite a bit of time to do in general as well.

but regardless, it looks really bad on capcom from a PR point of view.

I had that spiel written up a bit better, but I kept changing it, and in doing so, I think I lost my original point (or at least muddied it up). I was really just trying to say that the DLC in question being on disc probably doesn't mean much in regard to any bugs existing in sound and/or networking areas of the game. I just don't imagine that people specifically tasked to work on those areas would be the ones working on new characters.

I'm a developer as well, and thankfully not a game developer. Worse hours, worse pay... no thanks!

You're definitely right about it looking bad. Annoying and very easy to spot bugs almost always look bad on the developer. I guess they simply said, "Well... it's not a showstopper, so it isn't a super high priority."

i dont know man...

personally i would consider it a showstopper if i was a developer on that project. i mean the sound effects do not work online like 90% of the time. that is a MAJOR issue, especially considering how much sound cues are used in fighters.

i mean can you think of any other game that came out, that is so dependent on multiplayer for the game to stay alive, where the sound not working online would be acceptable? imagine the backlash of cod players if guns and explosions weren't heard when playing the game online. it would be 100% unacceptable.

the worst part about this is all the people who are making excuses for capcom thinking it is acceptable to have a game like this. had capcom mentioned this issue prior to people purchasing it, then it wouldn't have been as big a deal. but the fact they just hid it and let people buy it in it's state is just a very slimy thing to do.

We can't be sure they met the deadline early. The game came out when it was supposed to. After they finish development there is a lot more that has to happen before it goes to disc. The DLC team could have been a completely different team than those working on the actual game.

And lets be honest, Capcom knows who is buying this game. A sound bug online is only going to keep the "casual" players from picking it up. All the people Capcom plans on buying this game, already have and are playing it. Also, I'd say they are losing a lot more money missing a release date than they are from bad PR.

I would say the opposite is true. Causal players don't go to forums like us and aren't privy to this knowledge, so they'll buy the game never knowing there is a looming issue.

well to be real, the "casual" players are the ones that make capcom any money. the real fg scene drives the casual gamers to get into fighters, but they are far from the majority of the people who pay for the game.

hell, cross assault was part of capcoms promotion for the game, that netted the winner $25k. i'm sure all of those top players got free copies of the games as well, participating in the event.

you are naive if you think the "casual gamers" aren't the ones filling capcoms pockets. they aren't the ones over on srk bitching and moaning about capcom releasing a half assed game with a huge sound glitch, and dlc that isnt really dlc, but is more locked content tey are going to charge more for later on.
