Really was hoping that they were going to stick with 2d art and go high res ala Guilty Gear, not really feeling the 3d look. KOFXII on the other hand is looking amazing, it's what SF4 could've been if they stuck with hand drawn sprites.

Yeah KOFXII looks much better and it has been the better series for a long time. Either way, it is my favorite genre so I'll pick them all up.

Yeah big fighting game fan here as well, 2008 seems to be kind of a renaissance for the genre, though it'll never be as great as the early 90s and the arcade era.

Did you really think that you pay $5 just for the priviledge, not as cash towards your game?

I don't just think it, I've done it before and I felt quite foolish for agreeing to it afterwards. I don't know where you guys are shopping, but this was the experience I had when I preordered GTA:SA from gamestop. I paid 10 dollars to preorder two copies, then I came back and paid another 120 for the actual games.

If they've changed policies since then, or if you're all talking about online ordering or if I was just conned by a gamestop employee, then I wouldn't know. I know that I haven't pre-ordered anything since then because, to me, it wasn't worth the time or money.

no you didnt, you are wrong.

it may have been $120 AFTER taxes, cause $110 + taxes, but you did not pay $120 BEFORE taxes unless the game cost $65 where you bought it.

and WTF .. GTA:SA was not even $60 brand new, it was $50.

your story makes 0 sense.

whats the release date..

Gamestop says February 2009. It's going to hit arcades in Japan soon. I'll see if I can whip up an update to how the game's progressing using the info on the SRK forums.

Ono (the producer) said that they pretty much maxed out on 2D sprites with SFIII. Moreover, sprites are extremely expensive way of doing things. The stills for SF4 don't give the game justice, it apparently looks fantastic in motion. I've seen a couple of HD trailers and it does look great.

He could be in a different country. I live in Australia and full priced PS3 games are $120 here (despite the strong Aussie dollar :( ) so he very well could be talking about living in Australia. However, all our prices are after-tax prices (no additional tax) so I don't get what he is saying either.

I'm not feeling SF4 after watching more of the gameplay videos. i've been parrying for so long, I can't believe it's gone. Hopefully it's good and as deep as Third Strike.

they have a lot of other new mechanics and a few which I don't really understand yet, some kind of power hit where you can take damage and dish out a fierce punch or kick if you time it right.

I'm currently playing CVS for DC and CVS2 for GC, i'll get to SF3 next. I never like the SF3 roster so I never got into it. Hopefully a cheap one will pop up on ebay for the DC.

In the original Japanese version of Street Fighter II, the game concludes with a series of duels against four bosses: M. Bison, a former pro boxer; Sagat, a returning character from the original Street Fighter; Balrog, a masked Spaniard with a clawed gauntlet; and Vega, a dictator dressed in red military uniform, the game's final boss. As Street Fighter II was being localized for the United States, concerns arose over M. Bison, who resembled an analogue of Mike Tyson.[1][6] Believing the character to be a legal liability, Capcom chose to reshuffle the names of its characters. [7][8] The Spaniard was renamed Vega, the boxer became Balrog, and Vega inherited the name M. Bison.

SF4 seems to be out in arcades. I think it looks pretty good visually and plays incredibly basic. I can't wait for a console release.

Might be a stupid question, but you do mean in the states and not just Japan, right?

Yes, it's out in the states. Theres a thread at the shoryuken forums with a list of arcades that already have it
