If they do, I hope they quarantine them to a particular server. They made the server I was on in Rift the trial server and I had to move all of my toons off, that was painful(in no way am I saying you would make it that way, just the quality of general tends to hit sub Barrens levels within 24 hours of any F2P being introduced to a server 🙁 ).

i don't care how it's done, i just want to be able to try it out before plunking down money

it bothers me that cross-faction mail is blocked in a game between characters on the same account.

I hate feeling compelled to have the same crew skills on multiple characters just because one is Imperial and one is Republic, but on the same server.

I don't think the game feels empty, but there are a lot of servers which I think is essentially to account for the game's engine. Too many people in one place and performance really takes a hit so they tried to address that somewhat by reducing average population density, lesser of two evils and all.

Orange bracers and belts are mostly crafted only but can be found as rare drops. Orange 'main' slots (chest/legs/boots/gloves/head) are all pretty widely available from quests, commendation vendors, pvp and crafting. One exception is an orange belt is pretty easily purchased from the fleet (space mission) commendation vendor.

Really for endgame there's not much of a difference between all the professions now. The other professions are just as good as biochem since the change to rakata stims as long as you don't mind paying for the blue level 48 stims since the stats they provide are now the same. Technically buying 'exotech' stims is the "best" but I think it's going to be a while before they're more widely available, even then it's a pretty minor boost at best.

Grenades are actually pretty interesting, I've levelled Cybertech to 400 on an alt but haven't played with them yet. Mostly just using it to keep alt's gear up to date via mods/armorings; I quite like it really.

How they handle orange gear with augments and how it will interact with the eventual change to 'unbind' high level armorings (and set bonuses) from PVP and PVE gear remains to be seen. On one hand it could result in crafting becoming the -only- source of endgame gear and demand for augments skyrocketing; on the other I feel like they wouldn't want tier gear to simply become 'mod fodder' and then be cast aside so quickly.

Neutral auction house sees very little action so you could use that to transfer, I think it would be pretty safe. Also there's a genuine 'neutral' area found in Lower Promenade on Nar Shadaa, but I'm not sure if you can cross-faction trade there or not.

Have any subscription numbers been released? I'm curious to see how many account renewed after the first month, and then how many renewed after the second.

How I handled that in another MMO - just coordinated with a friend to log onto their opposing faction character and we both stood at the same auction house [booty bay]. We set it up that a specific emote would indicate "The item is listed" and another emote that would indicate "I purchased the item". You could also use voice chat - that probably would be more streamlined.

for the headache, it's probably not worth it, but it's annoying to have a Sith Sorcerer with more blue/green color crystals than I can shake a stick at while my Jedi Knight could use them.

When they do guild vaults, or whatever they are called, will they be across both factions or will one be needed for Sith and one for Republic?

Guilds are not cross-faction so banks won't be either.

AFAIK the only way to swap across factions is to meet at Nar Shaddaa and put the items into the hutt trading network (hoping no one grabs them while you switch logins).

Oh right, duh, stupid question. I always forget I can't talk to those yahoos on the other side.

can you buy your own auctions? I know you can't in WoW, but I never tried in SWTOR.

Good question, I haven't actually tried my cross-faction item exchange scheme via hutt trading network yet. It will be annoying if you need to round up a friend to act as middleman just to pass some sith schematics or dark-side relics from republic to empire.

I haven't had a reason to check this on GTN with same-faction alts, since there you can just email items.

You can buy your own auctions, though I haven't verified this myself my friend had no trouble doing it and I saw a few forum posts corroborating it.

alternative is to just have a character from both sides standing at the kiosk and just price the item where it would be above the normal price for that item. Post it on the network, log off the character, log on the other character, and purchase it.

Powertech is quite fun and I see a lot of build possibilities at 50 for PvP and DPS; tanking you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot if you miss out on certain talents so it's a bit more defined how to build for it. Even so, really enjoying it and the Bounty Hunter story.

Anyone post actual screenshots or videos from your own systems?

I was trying to watch videos on youtube and everything seems to be pretty old, like pre-release or looks like crap.

It won't really be good gameplay footage but if you look up the videos for Datacron hunting it'll give you a really wide sample of some of the environments in the game and how it looks in general; most of those videos are from the official release from what I saw. Datacrons are essentially trinkets hidden all over every planet you can obtain for minor stat bonuses.

Just dropping in here to say I recently got the game last week, love the idea to make 10-49 PVP scaled to be as fair as possible outside of basically skills you either haven't learned or spec'd into. I much prefer this compared to the wow brackets.

I can post some screens tonight, but the graphics aren't really anything impressive. TOR does have some nice environments, and the gfx aren't bad by any means, but plenty of other MMOs look way better.

I wouldn't let Heroic 4s hold you up, just keep them in your log if you like and ask around every now and then. It's hit or miss, sometimes you'll get a group who wants to knock out all of them and sometimes you can't find anyone for any of them.

Heroic 2s though are usually doable with just your companion though at times it's a little bit of a rock/paper/scissors coming down to your class and if you have the right CC or not.
