But no way to bind to ship so I have to always run back?

Yeah I was wondering this as well.

I hit 23 last night and I'm still on Taris. Seems to be a tonne of quests there, but I think I am close to completing and mainly just have the heroics left.

I'm still loving the game and I'm really wrapped up in the story elements. Maybe I'm just a super dork, but it caught me off guard and I thought it was pretty awesome **spoiler**
when I learned some of the the Rakghouls were using the force.

I just finished Taris last night and hit 24.

If you haven't started the "bonus" quests (which I would suggest doing because they're fat bank) you've got at least another full night (or two, depending on how many roses you smell and how long your nights are) there.

FYI, the world boss on Taris isn't that tough (no idea how he compares to others). I've killed him twice - first in a full group of 24 people which was overkill, and again in a group of 10 or 11 level 21+ folks which seemed about right. Drops 2 nice purples each time (nothing for me to roll on though :( ).

Both times I greeded, but both times people who had no business hitting need, DID. Like the Sage that won the heavy armor boots last night.

Cool, thanks. Looks like I will probably end up around the same level as you when I finish. I think I did start the bonus stuff yesterday.

Is the world boss part of one of the heroics?

The hilarious thing he's talking about is in the bonus line. It's really Bioware pushing the "Planet of the Raks" theme to its most absurd extreme.

On the other hand, make sure you take the Lost Cairns quest. Sad but a good KOTOR callback. Plus, free datacron at the end.

World bosses are just there, and aren't part of any questing at all. Just purely optional for the challenge and the purples.

I did the Lost Cairns quest already. It was sad and cool. I did not see a datacron anywhere though. :hmm:

There's one by one of the last Cairns, near the Imps.

Hint for cron-hunting: always look up. Admittedly this is easier when you sweep back through an area *after* doing objectives, but you can learn to see things at the time, too.

Man, sometimes when I'm bored at work I venture onto the SWTOR forums and it is the funniest fucking thing ever, it's like if AT P&N were all Star Wars nerds.

Also how do you end up on Taris at 24, let alone finish it? I'm not even done with it and I just hit 39 lol, though between space dailies, pvp [dailies, but even non-daily losses are substantial xp], datacrons, and bonus missions/bonus series quests I've ended up overlevelled since Dromund Kaas.

Though I've heard the bonus XP you get for partying is pretty substantial and since Nar Shadaa I've been partying with 1-3 of my friends regularly for just about all questing. I haven't actually noticed a change in how it's affected XP per enemy or quest rewards, they seem about the same as soloing. I will say I definitely feel like we've gotten more BoE blues in party, but that could also be a residual effect of higher level enemies.

What I have noticed however is that when your quest has a bonus mission, whenever a party member completes it you [sometimes?] get bonus XP for *their* completion, something like 20-25% of the value of the bonus mission itself. So last night I was partying with two friends, I got like 5k for my bonus mission and then an extra 1k-ish for each one they completed. Can't say I was paying close enough attention to tell if this happened every time or not though.

I've been playing for a week now and I like it TOR, but I'm curious if it ever stops feeling like an online version of KOTOR with a multiplayer component and becomes more like an MMO. I'm sure it's probably because I'm simply not that far into the game so I'm looking forward to higher levels but I'm just curious other people feel about the rise to level 50.

For you guys who have yet to reach Hoth on a PvP server, beware. Both factions are all over the planet and PvP battles are plentiful. I was getting ganked in a cave that I had to run through to get to some of my story areas, but that was fixed when I went back the next day with my brothers and they destroyed and embarrassed a bunch of Republic players while I got to my quests.

I decided turnabout was fair play, so while I was doing quests in the Starship Graveyard last night, I saw two Jedi. One got away, but I snuck up on another and finished him off pretty quickly. :D

That's why you stay in stealth as much as possible.

And what's your name so I can see you coming.

Republic Taris = Imperial Balmorra (between capitol and Nar)
Imperial Taris = Republic Balmorra (between end Act I and Quesh)

They take place at different times, too. I believe several years are supposed to pass between Act I and the start of Act II.

It's interesting if you play both. Some of the same people show up, you get to undo things the other faction did in their early-world quests, etc.

That's the best thing about this game! :awe: I hope it doesn't change too much at later levels.

This guy was a Jedi Sage, so I am not sure if they have that ability or not. At any rate, even if he did have it, he was fighting a mob when I snuck up on him. WINNING!

As for me, I'm a BH so I can't stealth. If I have to do missions in questionable areas, I usually bring along others, some of which are stealthed. I learned this lesson in AoC when, as a level 50 in Aztel's Approach, I was turning in a quest and was in the cutscene when some lvl 80 jerk decided he would get a cheap kill. Unfortunately for him, I had seen him acting suspiciously and my stealthed lvl 79 assassin brother (who I called in when I saw the guy) whipped not only him before he could do any damage to me, but also flipped around and stomped a lvl 56 HoX (I think) that unstealthed to take him out.

The Jedi who got away was a lvl 40 and took off the minute I got a shot on him. I was too far away to chase him.

And what's your name so I can see you coming.

Character name is LupiIsANoob.

I seem to be above level for most planets as well. I temporarily skipped Hoth due to being ganked and completed some quests on Belsavis, which was a little above me, but by the time I get back there after revisting Hoth, I should be at the max limit for that planet.

Not sure if this is a bug or if it's ability is tied into only PvE encounters.

I'm on Tatooine doing my Khem Val companion quest at 32 (the one where you hunt down Khem's dashade friend from way back). I had a 27 Smuggler pop out of stealth and attack me. So I hit her a couple of times and decided to heal up. I popped Whirlwind on her to keep her from running. For those that don't know Whirlwind is an Inquisitor's CC ability that, if you're a Sorcerer, you get a 60 second CC. The opposite effect though is that while inside the whirlwind the enemy gets a gradual heal of around 120hp every 2-3 seconds.

While she was in there I saw that there was no healing going on. So I heal up and pop my Affliction on her and Crushing Darkness. Then proceed to lightning bolt her down. She popped into stealth and ran away. But I found it odd that the WW didn't heal her.

Huh, I didn't realize that. I guess now that I think of it I didn't see Republic players on either of those planets, I assumed they would have been the same level.

And Whirlwind only heals Strong/Elite mobs or something I think, if you read the description it mentions it. So players may only be counted as "Standard" enemies possibly, or they simply made it an arbitrary change for PVP.

Yeah if it works the same way as Concussion Grenade, then the healing part only works on non-normal, etc. mobs.

Umm of course you have. You wait in line EVERYTIME you click on a webpage and wait for the page to be served to you. Just because the line is usually short and you are not being told you are waiting in a "line" doesn't mean you aren't. Hell, even these Anandtech forums have slowdowns from time to time. Guess what is happening when you click to go a webpage and all you get is a white screen and a spinning mouse wheel? You are waiting in a line!

there's a night and day difference between the things we're talking about.

i had a blast just before the servers went down for the patch. there were 3 of us on the jawa balloon, 15 minutes away from the datacrons, and then in big red letters: servers are going down in 15 minutes!

noooooooooo!

we hopped to the sand crawler, but i was a bit late and caught an edge on the side. i could get to the wrong side of the crawler, but not the right side with the datacrons. 1 of the guys i was with had a good idea. he hopped over to me, i accepted his invitation to duel, and he blasted me across to the datacron. we got the 2nd one just before the server went down.

moral of the story:
don't panic, keep it fluid, teamwork

or, don't miss your jump

This game is great, but it's almost too easy.. At this rate I feel like I'll run out of things to do after a few months if not less.

Unless I make lots of new chars...

Basically why I'm in no hurry to level. Only in a hurry to make assloads of money. $$ makes MMO go round.

Will probably get the game on Saturday since I will be back at school and can download it fast.

Has there been any information on server transfers? Just wondering on how much thought to put into server choice. Definitely going PvP, so obviously I mean if I decided I wanted to be on a different PvP server.
