People are hitting level 50 so fast that I'm curious what Bioware's plan is going to be in terms of expansion and content. Yes, you can roll additional charactersm focus on PvP, or maybe get into crafting, but I'm not sure that will keep people occupied for long.

I'm not a super-fast leveler by tradition (I've only maxed characters in SWG and AoC of all the MMOs I've played), but even I am at the point where I am likely to have a maxed character by the time the game has been out "officially" for a month. At that stage, I think I'll look at crafting and more PvP and try to make some money and get some good gear, along with maybe finally making a character to join the AT guild. I've just been focusing on hitting 50 with one character first.

Any thoughts/rumors on Bioware's content or expansion plans? My brother seems to think that they already have the content for an expansion ready and will release it in the spring.

I maxed out a character in Rift in a couple of weeks of just 4 hours of play a night roughly. Rifts is still going strong from what I hear and so will this game. As with all new games, many people will rush to max level, get bored, and move on. It's how some people like to play games. Those that appreciate the game for more than a mad rush to the end will stick around for far longer.

Content will probably be a real problem in the long run. The storylines and voice acting that they're doing means its probably a lot more work to develop new worlds or flashpoints. Maybe (hopefully) they have worked ahead on content so they always have things to release... if not, we may have a long wait.

Given the emphasis on story elements I think digital expansions heavy on plot available to all characters, rather than class based, would do very well. Kind of like those released for FFXI.

Short of churning out content at an absolutely astounding rate though, you'll never have an MMO where the game keeps up with the players however because they just put so much time into it. And it will essentially, and probably inevitably, end up subbing in various grinds/achievements/minigames/etc so that those players at least feel like they're working towards something. Legacy does already look like a bit like that.

Had my first weird in game glitch. Was driving done some city corridors, and after making an obscured turn (had map open) I noticed as I turned the map off I passed within about 5 yards of a mob pack that was in the center of the hallway. Just as I was wondering to myself if there is some reduce agro range while mounted, my ride derezzed and I was pulled back about 20 yards and put in combat taking several hits already.

As much as I dislike things about my first companion, not sure I’ll be using my new one much. He’s a smuggler and even though I activated combat stance and deactivated healing stance, he still mostly heals as soon as I take about 10% damage. Would rather not have to deselect his heal abilities too.

For those wondering how much grinding you have to do for mount money, not much for this game. I left the 2nd world at 24, with about 47K. This was just from questing, no AH use and did crafting but in my case crafting was only a money expenditure and not an income stream. Per quest money reward ramped up nicely on the 3rd world so that by the time I hit 25 I was closing in on 59K.

If anyone does need help with some xp/money, just do the early ship missions after upgrading your ship to all grade 1 components. Makes them a bit of a snooze with good rewards.

Has anyone done a heroic more than once? Was curious if they still give the item rewards each time done?

So Character ADD is hitting me.

I was always like to play an underdog least played class...So I rolled an Operative..

Got to level 26..decided I really didn't like the game play..

Now I'm stuck between a Juggernaut and a Powertech.. Anyone notice which ones are more lacking end game?

I had the same thought. While many of thhe quest leaad to the same area with four diifferent instanced areas, if they still want to talk about all the voice dialogue that's still a lot of recording..

Any updates on the legacy system yet or is it still just about a name.

I haven't heard yet, but I hope it's soon. I'm only legacy level 6, but now that I'm 50 everything I do is for legacy xp and money :p.

Our guild main tank rerolled from Juggernaut to Powertech after lvl 26 and has not one regret. He found the Juggernaut suffered a lot from knockbacks in flashpoints and the Powertech ranged abilities help ease that problem. I see a lot of Powertechs in pvp that seem to do great damage. Powertech all the way.

Right now Juggernaut is considered more lacking in the tanking department with low threat generationg, and not a significantly better damage reduction. Though that may change a bit with high level content and guilds need MTs as they fit that role more readily with all the great cooldowns they have. But for flashpoints etc, a bounty hunter is better simply because he has much, much better threat generation, especially with AoE pulls.

Personally I prefer juggernaut style of tanking, and the skill it takes in order to tank properly, but most people prefer easy mode. As a result juggs will probably be the more underused class.

I am curious as to what you would consider non tedious leveling, can you tell me what game you have played where you thought the leveling was not tedious? (single player, mmo, any rpg is fine for examples of non tedious leveling)

The pace from 1-10 is good, from what I've seen. After 10, there starts to be too many filler quests and not many quests that advance the main storyline.

Also noticed about the alignment being discussed earlier, that at the mid levels I'm finding more blue quality mod parts that I'm seeing alignment tier requirements.

not really a spoiler:

the end of act 1 brought a very disappointing and cheesey turn for my assassin.

is this yet another mmo that starts very strong and turns to crap once you lose noob status?

I was already disappointed after level 10 on my assasin where it became run around the uniberse and bring me back this.

Powertech is class everybody is rolling to.. easymode.. (as stated by others). But.. really dont matter, game is pretty much "worn out" after less then a month. In honesty there are really only 2 classes, tank/dmg and heal/dmg makes grouping a breeze but really limits the option on encounters(flashpoints). A case of Easier worked for WoW it will work for us.. but simplifing the class system to almost 100% interchange is bad. I must admit being evil had it attraction.. when your Sith lord even does a double take and gasps when you mention killing a school yard and everybody related to them including pets, I had to chuckle. The quests feeling like a Singelplayer game was a neat touch.. but one time throhg and you do what you alwasy did spam that spacebar to get it done.

to quote the talking heads "same as it ever was" nothing new here except the Star Wars Coat of paint.

/shrug. It's better than WoW is right now (for me), so I'm enjoying it. I love my Zabrak Marauder. I love being super dark side, I love lightsabers, I love lamp.

That's the problem with MMOs. As the exp requirements go up exponentially, you can't keep doing the same number of missions to achieve the next level. I know at 29, it seems like the game progresses very slowly and I spend a lot of time traveling.

I have a 40 OP (solo char) and 31 Merc (group char) and the OP doesn't get good until you get lacerate then gets even better when you get hidden strike.

With Kaliyo, I'm soloing every heroic-2 quest I've come across so far and killed planet champions same level (HP range from 50k-100k).

The Merc is awesome and has great group synergy but I feel the power of the Merc waning a little, relying on tracer missles and rocket punch, jet pack for CC.

I feel the OP is a slow grower and becomes extremely powerful end game, especially with gear.

My OP and Kaliyo has a complete set of purple gear lvl 39 or over because I took cybertech. I've made all my own mounts and purchased all my inventory space still have about 400k.

Money mainly comes from questing although I;ve made over 400k just selling grade 2 and 4 ship upgrades. These things sell like hotcakes on my server.

Grade 2 for 5k a pop and grade 4 for 12k a pop.

The Ilum exploit [and the cries from the players about it] reminds me of when SOE/SWG banned people with smugglers who were using a special trick to get the optimal slicing [i verified this once after the bannings just to see if it actually worked]. A lot of them cried on the forums afterwards claiming they did nothing wrong when in fact SOE had data to back it up. I think they did accidentally ban a few people who just tried it - but the fact they did try it flagged their account.

It's common sense - if you are level 10 and the planet is geared for level 40+ content - it's obvious you shouldn't be on that planet. They didn't ban those who were on the planet to see if it could be done - they just banned those who were obviously abusing the exploit. Glad to see they communicated this to the players [considering they are usually very silent about most things - this was a shock]

Not sure if I mentioned it - but everyone should try the Agent story - Act 1 is extremely well written and has an amazing twist at the end. I literally spent 10-15 minutes going back and forth on how to proceed with the end of Act 1.

The only place that has so far started to annoy me is Taris [Imperial Side] - sooo much traveling required between quest objectives and way too many heroics [most people are farming them for gear]. I think I'm just about finished with the planet as I already did the bonus quests and put Thana in her place [I won't say how to avoid spoilers]. Not looking forward to Belsavis as I beta'd that area when they granted us level 40 characters - travel on that planet is amazingly boring.

Yeah, there was way too much traveling on Taris. For me at least, the next planet was Hoth and so far, I'm not terribly fond of it. There's a cave which is open to anyone and within it, there are story areas for my class quests. Unfortunately, either the Republic players have missions in that cave as well or they just like to camp it, because every time I went, there were Republic players and once, I got ganked by a couple. I went ahead and skipped to Belsavis and did a few quests and then last night, I took my two brothers with me to Hoth and they beat the crap out of a bunch of Republic players while I did my quests. :D

My only complaint with the game so far is the asinine running around required sometimes for these class quests. Particularly for the Sorcerer. Almost every planet we finish, he has to spend 20 minutes running to different planets to talk to people. WTF happened to just using a telephone (aka holoterminal) to contact people across the galaxy for 1 quick conversation. The act 1 conclusion was the worst. As a sith warrior I finished my quests in less than 30 minutes, meanwhile my brother on his sorcerer took another 45 minutes to do his running around. It frustrated him to the point of quitting for the night.

The stories themselves are well done, just the 15 minutes running through a zone to get to an NPC for a 3 minute conversation gets old.

On a related note, why doesn't the speeder on drumaan kaas connect from the spaceport into the city? Cannot go from the spaceport all the way to the trainers in the capitol building or whatever, and you especially cannot travel from the spaceport to the sith temple on the other side of the map without a jog through the city to a connecting speeder.

My only complaint about the game so far, and hardly enough to keep me away for any length of time. Just a WTF moment in an otherwise well developed game.

Oh yeah, meant to ask another question that came up while playing the other night: Is there any way to set my companion to craft multiple items in a row, or do I have to click on them one at a time and have him craft them one at a time? For Cybertech it's a bit annoying to have to click through every minute to have my droid craft a mod, when I am just doing them for the experience and have enough materials to craft 25 of the item.

Would be nice to just set him to craft 25 of them one after another.

this game is loaded with time and money sinks. "quest done? not quite. go burn another 20 minutes crossing the emptiness. then pay 100 credits and burn another 20 minutes. now that you're on the far side of the planet, go back to your ship to make a phone call."

you can click craft item up to 5 times and they will make 5 in a row. wish it was more, but 5 is still better than 1. :D

I was hoping to get to level 50 by the end of the month and then just take a break. One thing I do enjoy is playing with my brothers and friends and we're all on Vent nearly every night playing. We haven't played a game like this in years and it brings back good memories.

P.S. Flynn to the Vikings?

NO NO Redskins!!!

:p
