That article is obviously biased against the Wii.

I would love to see some company come out with a complete Smash Bros rip-off game with other characters. If I had a game that was the quality of Smash Bros with the quality of service that XBOX Live, I'd be in heaven.

I don't think it would work out very well. A lot of the fun in the games comes from there being so many unique and recognizable characters. Not many companies have as many characters floating around as Nintendo does.

As someone who doesn't have much nostalgia for Nintendo characters nor a fondness for fighting games, I really don't see the big deal with this title. I've played the N64 and Gamecube versions, and they're both OK. Maybe I'm a bit jaded as my friend was really good at the N64 version and always beat my ass, but still, aside from being a decent fighting game with recognizable characters, there isn't much to it.
I think the biggest selling point really comes from all of the people who grew up with these characters and the "oh my god, I get fight Mario vs. Link!" appeal. It's just a giant fan service. I'd like to know if the people who are bored with these characters, such as myself, are interested in this game.

The game can be played for lots of different reason. I'll be picking it up for the competitive aspect since Melee had a HUGE following at my university. I personally found the game highly entertaining when I sucked bawlz and got destroyed by my friends, but I find the game even more addicting now that I can compete with them

The game is just absolutely beautiful when played skillfully. Here's to hoping brawl can do the same

Right with you there Jihad, this is a game that makes me want a Wii but it's so odd... the best games on the Wii make little to NO use of the wiimote at all... Super Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess and Brawl are arguably in the Top 5 games for the Wii (if not the Top 3) and yet they make irrelevant use of the wiimote.
Great - so now I need to buy $150 of Wavebirds.Originally posted by: ducci
We tried using the remote + nunchuk combo first - don't bother. We then moved to the classic controller, which was OK. I prefer the Gamecube controller the best. You can set every button to any command you want, though, so that is very nice. We also tried multiplayer, but couldn't get a game started.
