May I suggest that you consider using http://www.elfster.com, To help organize your secret santa gift exchange? Elfster is a site I developed to help deal with the logistics of my family's annual Secret Santa.

Elfster helps you keep track of who is participating, randomly draws name after the sign up deadline, and automatically emails everyone information about who they got. You can keep a wishlist and a do not need list to help give your Secret Santa some ideas. You can even ask your person questions without giving away who you are.

It is easy to get started, just go to the home page and click on the big ornament. If you decide to give it a try, please send me an email and let me know what you think. I hope you'll enjoy it.

Many thanks and much ho ho ho,
Peter

Hi Danman,

I just posted a message about using Elfster, http://www.elfster.com/ to help you organize the Secret Santa this year. RaynorWolfcastle suggested I reply directly to you. I believe my original post is available on the thread, so I hope you'll take a peek for a more complete explanation. In short, Elfster can make organizing a secret santa a lot easier and can enliven the exchange in a number of ways. If you do give it a try and toss the spreadsheet, please let me know what you think. I hope it will make life a little easier for you and that you have some fun along the way.

Peter

Me too! Count me in if I can actually join, unfortunately i'm only a lowly noob.
Please pm me if I can join!

I fvcked up last year and my SS either never got their gift or got it very late (I was in India and asked a friend to ship it for me...big mistake) so I think I'm on probation this year.

I'd be likely to make the same mistake again since I'm so busy with school and career planning.

maybe match people up, like if you got low heat you get paired with someone else with low heat, you got high heat you get paired with someone with high heat, you got ebay feedback you get stuck with another ebayer, n00bs get paired up, etc. makes it a bit more complicated, but it rewards the trustworthy folks. I'm in for $20.

Danman and I are running the show this year. I coded up the sign up form yesterday and Danman will be posting the thread shortly.

pimburg thanks for the suggestion but we prefer to do things by hand. It is actually not that bad to do.
