IMO it peaked in season 4 or 5.

6 was pretty good. 7 and 8 were...iffy at best.

SG1's opening episode seems kind of 'meh' since it will be spent introducing new characters. Atlantis and BSG open up off of huge cliffhangers so those should be really fun to watch.

it's a refreshing change from shows that never really make any progress. i hate those shows. everytime something interesting is on the verge of happening, some lame plot device kills it in the bud. there's never any real change in the world. the world in stargate however has been undergoing major major changes.

Well, you can't expect it to stay the same forever. It's been changing for a while now. Everything from Gen. Hammond getting less time to leaving altogether to Daniel leaving and then coming back, etc etc. It's just a big change now since Richard Dean Anderson was pretty much the face of the show. But even he has been getting less time over the last couple of seasons because he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Yeah I know... even on mondays Scifi special that they had about all three shows, RDA was only seen like twice but never an interview.

As others mentioned, after 8 seasons a show either changes for the better and flies. Doesn't change and dies, or changes and fails. 50% chance if they change they will survive.
