They'll be a playoff game, and the Sox will make the Playoffs.... Yes it sucks that it doesnt look good to win the AL East, but its possible.. very possible.

Is it just me or did the announcers make the possible playoff scenarios even more confusing than before?

I'm still confused.

..Cleveland lost today so with a win tomorrow that means the Red Sox are in? Or would the Indians still have to lose tomorrow coupled with a Red Sox win for them to get to the playoffs as the wildcard winner??

god damn I'm lost...

cleveland losing today means, Red Sox would not be eliminated without a playoff game...

only if red sox loses AND cleveland wins tomorrow

Yanks are the AL East Champs... ugh...

Red Sox need to win tomorrow to avoid a one game playoff for the wildcard.

Randy pitched well and the usually reliable Wakefield stunk it up..but I guess thats just how it is with knuckleballers..either they pitch a shutout or they give up tons of runs.

so Red Sox can clinch wild card if
1. win tomorrow OR
2. Indians lose tomorrow OR
3. beat Indians in one-game playoff Monday in Boston

Why did the yankees clinch the division? They are only 1 game ahead with 1 game left. If boston wins tomorrow wont they tie?

They will have the head to head tie breaker

Yankees still win because of Red Sox vs Yankees head-to-head record

When Boston manager Terry Francona heard that the Yankees had brought in a knuckleball pitcher to pitch batting practice to them Saturday to prepare for Wakefield, he quipped, "we imported a 6-foot-11 guy.''
i thought this was pretty funny.

🙂

The Yanks and Sox would only play a playoff game if it was to get into the playoffs. If both teams get in with a tie, then there is no playoff game, the season series winner gets the East. If the Sox lose tommorow and the Indians lose, The Sox are the WC. If the Sox win and the Indians win, the Sox are still the WC. IF the Sox lose and the Indians win, the Yankees would win the division by a game and the Sox and the Indians would play a one game playoff. Confusing but cool. GO YANKS.

I hate it when the tribe loses 5 of 6 in the last week.
/cries

here we go with another boring october.

did anyone read that "Root for the Indians, or you suck" article on CBS.sportsline.com?
pretty offensive to NYY and BOS fans but gave this sad tribe fan a smile
