Since it's a great WW2 mod for UT2004, I thought I would make a thread.

I play as [13th]Lonyo/93.
Official Website
Mod Database Mod of the year
Fileplanet Best of 2004 nominee <=- vote here

It's a realism mod for UT2004 based in WW2, with rifles, SMG's, MG's, tanks, trucks etc.
It has no crosshair, but it has iron sights.

Great fun, everyone should give it a go!
Remember to have the latest UT2004 patch, RO version 3.1 and the Map Patch.

schadenfroh, yankeesfan etc, sign in (and tell me who the hell you are as a player!)

I now have a reason to buy Unreal Tournament 2004. Is it safe to assume Red Orchestra is better than Bf-42?

Never played BF: 1942
RO is a game which needs teamplay to get anywhere, it's got a lot more focus (IMO) on infantry combat.
It's great fun.

stopped playing, die too often and too quickly, no fun.

I rule @ fps - hehe - but don't have the time to put into learning the maps :(

In this game, more than in any other FPS, learning the maps is paramount as one wrong step will get you killed instantly and you'll have .002% chance of knowing where it came from.

So, given the amount of time I was putting into it (no more than 5-10 hrs a week), i found i was dying too frequently. That said, everyone dies a lot in RO unless they are supremely cautious and know the maps (sniper spots, choke points, spawn points) inside and out.

5-10 hours a week should put you in good stead, odd that you still sucked ;)
It does have a steep learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, you *should* just keep going up.
And there's always a new spot to discover, which adds longevity.
That said, I have been accused of wallhacking because I can guess where opponents might be. If you play enough, you truely know the spots.

Ya, guess i'm just too impatient for the most part. The pace is too slow and then you're dead. That was RO for me after the first week :p I did have a blast playing a few of the maps, like the one with the pipelines and, um, warsaw i think? It's a bunch of city buildings, fires, have to capture three areas as the russians, can run south and take over this weird building that sticks out of the side of another building and has a tunnel

Damn i always edit my posts...I want to add that I think maybe it has something to do with the size of the maps?? End up running for a straight minute to get somewhere only to die instantly when I arrive. bleh!

I am comparing RO mainly with my favourite WW2 fps, CoD. Loved playing that game, but after I was dropped by my clan (Wizards of War - was the newest member) cause they were "downsizing" I lost interest.

I just started playing this yesterday. It's pretty fun. I feel like I'm the only one playing it that doesn't know crap about ww2 though.

Err, it has tanks and trucks, but no planes.
Not all maps have tanks, but there's one server which runs only vehicle maps.

yes

i'm at this page and I don't see the map patch. If it is the first group, it says from 3.0 to 3.1... I'm already at 3.1 (Full Install)... can you point me to the map patch ?
