Where the hell are you buying GT 512s? I've seen them all over the place for 220-250.

I was quoting the Anandtech article I linked to. Personally my two 8800GT cards were purchased from Dell for $218 each. That was the shipped/taxed/out-the-door price, BTW.

And just for good measure today I ordered the two cheap 3870 cards from Micro Center, one each of the Visiontek and Diamond. Unfortunately I got backorder emails for both items. Ah well, the two 8800GT cards should entertain me for a while.

I bought the factory overclocked ECS 8800GT with Accelero Rev. 2 on Amazon for ~$265 shipped. Finally a store with no tax to CA. Yay. I used a $25 Amazon gift card (from my Amazon points) to get it in the $240s. If you sign up to an Amazon credit card, you can get $30 off your first order.

Exactly - I got mine on the BB $230 deal. 299-349 may be the prices seen most often, but they're not what anyone's paying - not anyone who knows their ass from a cowbell anyway.

Nooooooo!!!!! I was considering getting the Accelero for my cards (used in separate systems, not SLI). The ECS card would have been easier to deal with. Maybe I'll sell my cards...

You can find them for closer to $200 than $300 if you shop around, picked up one at Microcenter yesterday for $230 + tax, which is by far the cheapest I've seen locally. Couldn't resist :).

I completely agree that paying a mark up because something is new or is low in supply sucks the big one. With that said MSRP is manufactures suggested retail price key word being suggested. It is not manufactures required retail price.

Before ordering something from Microcenter it will say "usually ships within ?-?? business days." On the card in question it says 5-7 business days before you even put the card into the cart. Something to look for before ordering from them next time.
