I doubts thousands have gotten it. I think maybe in the hundreds. I don't have time to set it up yet, but I will post when I do. remagavon said that he got is up to 2500 stable using PC2700.

Mine will be here on thurs will report back then. On another note, will my pc3200 hyperx ram work on it, I am using it in a gigabyte ga-7n400pro with a 3200+ but I dont know if it will be compatible.

You didn't have to be a retail employee to purchase it, just a computer enthusiast. There wasn't a rebate either, so total was ~$192.

I plugged it up to my 300W Fortron PSU and it was working fine. The 12V was a little low though, 11.48V, but on my XP2600+, it's 12.40V. Anyone else having the same problem? I did some preliminary testing and it ran fine at 11X210 using 2X Kingston PC2700 valueram. I noticed that the CPU fan increased according to temperature, 3400-3900RPMs.

Using CPUID, my speed for memory shows 155.3 or something wierd like that... IS it safe to assume that's 333?

I'm not using the Asus motherboard, but I installed the CPU and heatsink into my cheap Chaintech Nforce3 250 motherboard. I'm not going to bother with the K8V because it doesn't have a PCI lock and I don't feel like corrupting my hard drives (PATA RAID and SATA HDs). edit: it's at 11 x 220MHz.

This is a cut and paste from my post in the hot deals forum:
I got my new 3200+ up to 2.42GHz with the Venus 7+ at stock voltage. :D
----

It's working nicely so far, plays games great and gives me around 23,000 in 3DMark2001SE. I need to tweak the memory some more since it's being underclocked: 366MHz because it can't handle 440MHz.

what other parts do you have on that rig?

I also did not use the board, I already have a great VIA 754 board.

BUT as others said, I also do not want to overclock to much and mess up my data. So I am running my at 209Mhz. That way I get a extra 100Mhz and it only increses my PCI/AGP bus by 1Mhz. Should still be very safe and get a little free Mhz :)

Technically, you could register as an enthusiast, but the official promotion rules said you had to be employed by a Gold or Platinum AMD Partner company, so you couldn't just be some kid with $200. Some people did, however, but for those who didn't there is little recourse.

I have mine sitting at 2.365.

I will eventually try for 2.4, but since there's no AGP lock on the K8V SE Deluxe, i'm not gonna push it too much.

Besides, my 9800 Pro is my main bottleneck right now.

 I'm not drilling oil, it's a computer! ;) I flashed the BIOS last night and looped benchmarks, so I'm running a different overclock than when I posted above.

This is what I have now (not everything, just what's relevent):
Chaintech VNF3-250
3200+ CG stepping @ 240x10.0, 1.5v (3x HT)
Tt Venus 7+
cheap PC3200 memory @ DDR400 2.5-4-4-10 (it works @ 2.5-3-3-8, changing it later today)
a 240GB RAID
a 250GB SATA drive
BFG 6800GT OC @ 400/1100
350W A+GPB PSU

lowering the HT multiplier from 4x to 3x (720MHz instead of 800MHz @ 200MHz) let me raise the FSB to 240MHz and get the memory back up to DDR400. HT @ 4x240 wasn't stable on this board and I already added a fan to the chipset. :( It's a tradeoff because HT @ 4x (220x11.0) only let me have memory running at 366MHz (440MHz didn't work with this cheap memory, even by raising voltage and changing timings) but let me have a higher stable HT frequency of 880MHz. IOW it runs faster at 240x10.0 overall than 220x11.0, despite the slightly slower clock speed.

The NF3U chipsets are supposed to have support for HT @ 1000MHz, so maybe I'll upgrade eventually. 4x240 and 4x250 would then work with memory at DDR400/DDR415.

I know this is kind of off topic but how much of a performance hit am I going to take by using Crucial PC2100 RAM until I buy some new PC3200?

in theory pc2100 effectively runs 66% of what pc3200 is capable of. so 30+ percent slower. i say in theory because though its rated @ DDR400 (pc3200), that is the max. theoretical bandwidth.

I have mine running stable (memtest, and prime95) at 2420mhz, at default voltage 1.55v, with 4x HT speed. I tried some settings over 2500 but got crashes, mostly due to memory, and maybe HT speed being too high. I had prime95 run for a couple hours without crashes before I left for work at 225*11=2475mhz, at 1.60v (1.55v crashed after 20 minutes).

The system:
A64 3200+ newcastle, 512K cache
Epox 8kda3j+ (not using the ASUS)
1 gig crucial pc3200 cas3.0
thermaltake 420W PS

Stock 2200 mhz here. I would overclock if this board had PCI/AGP lock but it doesn't and little extra speed isn't worth the possible dmg to my components along with instability. It's plenty fast at stock for what I do. This is the first computer I built that I haven't overclocked. But I'm very impressed with the performance of this combo. A64 3200+ is impressive performer even at stock.

I didn't even have to reinstall Windows for the motherboard/cpu swap. Uninstalled my Nforce drivers and swapped the motherboard/cpu. Rebooted and installed Via drivers. Windows perfectly happy with the swap. It's nice to see hardware and drivers get along after hardware swaps.

EVeryone else here. Does your Tt Venus 7+ actually increase RPM's like its spose to? 3000-6000 depending on temp. Mine sticks at 3000 no matter what temp I'm at... It isn't really good for the whole OCing thing. My chip has reached 60C under load and I don't like that!!! I am use to a Thermalright SLK900a that would keep my CPU at 48C under load.

Yes, it's supposed to increase with the temp. Make sure your CoolNQuiet feature is disabled in BIOS. I think the Asus Q-Fan is disabled by default too. Also make sure that it's plugged into the CPU fan connector.

I seem to have a problem overclocking my PC2700 memory. I tried to set it to 5:3 and 2:1 and they both set the speed to 157.5 according to CPUZ and Sandra. Anyone having the same problem?

I'm using the A64 3000+ and its running stable at 2.5Ghz. 3DMark01 score of 15179 (over 14287 at stock speed). No errors when I stopped Prime95 after over 10 hours of Torture Test. Idles about 32C and 52C under load. I still have a cheap sound card and a ATI TV Wonder VE yet to install, so I don't know if they will be stable at this speed, but I have high hopes.

strange issues w/ Memory

running everything at stock speed, but have DDR Ratio to 2:1 ( using Kingston HyperX 3500, 2x512) and I get memtest errors? any ideas? RAM placement? anything?

setup :

ATI AIW 9700 Pro
3200+ @ stock
K8V Deluxe ( default BIOS that shipped with it)
2x40GB IDE RAID 0 array on Promise Controller

any ideas would be cool

Thanks
