53 view and like 4 votes?
Geez, it reminds of me of the real elections in this country.

No. If it was like a real election run with Diebold equipment, there would be 4 views and 53 votes.

The networks no longer "call" elections until the polls close in Hawaii so it will be after midnight, east coast time.

Tough ones there (some).

Obama will win. Dems will take the majority with I said 53-54, but the take-home here is that they'll have a fairly solid one, but not run away with it.

Obama will win popular as well.

I think he'll win by a decent electoral margin. I don't know how that corresponds with time zones, but this won't be close like the last one.

Election will be if I have to pick, republicans doing better than expected, but expected by who? I expect them to lose, so the degree of their loss is the question and I'm learning in time not to underestimate the stupidity of their supporters.

I don't think a major event will occur by then (further economic catastrophes are now par for the course, so don't count).

Stock market that one is tough. I said 10-10,500 but that's a complete crapshoot; it could end up below 10k very soon or rebound (which would be fleeting, I'm quite sure; I think it's not going to be recovering properly any time soon.

It's going to be hard to call this one early in the evening on election night. I think McCain will probably win VA, NC, FL, and OH but I think people will still wait to see what CO, NM, and NV do before calling anything wrapped up. In the end I think McCain wins, despite the polling numbers.

The only October surprise will be McCain's campaign becoming one of the most negative-oriented in recent history. Based on today's news, it's already begun.

I'm quoting you on that. I inclune to give McCain FL, but I think OH MAY tip in Obama's flavour. It's going down to the wire but I think Obama might pull out ahead. Let's see how good the fabled ground game is.

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama wins and has a filibuster-proof Senate.

I think I would prefer that, rather than listen to excuses that Hope and Change are being blocked by teh Eeevil Republicans in the Senate and House when he's up for re-election. Let's give him a blank check and a rubber stamp and stand back.

Unlike Republicans, the Democrats won't give a blank check and a rubber stamp to Obama.
That's the difference in the parties.

"Power tends to corrupt. Absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely."

You're right, it's not germane at all.

I don't think this election will be a landslide. To me, the election is going to be determined in 3 states; Ohio, Florida, & Pennsylvania. Whoever wins 2 out of the 3 will win the election. Seeing as how Pennsylvania is almost safe for Obama, if he wins Ohio or Florida, it's over for McCain.

Look at history. During times of Democratic majorities, even huge majorities, they have never given the President a blank check or been a rubber stamp. Never.

My grand prediction for an October Surprise (yes, you can rub my nose in it later):

No much.

The Bush admin is already in wrap up mode, hurriedly rewriting regulations and executive orders to get published before the inauguration. The continuing resolution keeping the government running past Sept 30 is set to expire in March so there won't be any budget battles between now and the election. Any attempt by Bush to attack Iran will be stopped by Congress, including all but the nuttiest of the nutty Republicans so I don't see Bush even trying. Pardon season doesn't start until after the election so nothing exciting there.

McCain/Palin will fling mud and get caught in a few more lies. Obama will continue to be painted as a radical Christian church attending Muslim. Palin will accuse Obama of wanting to STEAL YOUR GUNS!.

Obama will stay mostly positive and avoid substance like the plague. Dem groups will spend a gazillion dollars on ads claiming that McCain and Palin are just plain mean.

The economic chaos will continue straight through the election with the markets jerking like Michael Jackson on speed. The following banks will fail: (just kidding, some will, I have no idea which ones). The Treasury will start spending the loot. Two minutes, fifteen seconds after the Treasury buys the first block of securities forty eleven parties will knock each other over on their way to federal court to stop the sales. At least one of the parties suing will be the bank the Treasury just bought from. Europeans will blame everything on the US. The Chinese will watch, carefully watch.

The Alaskan independence movement will issue some sort of statement defending Alaska and blasting the other 49 for making fun of Palin.

Oil will go down, then up, then down, and spike $8/barrel on the day after the election if Obama wins.
