So I go to my parents house to pickup a few packages. Get to talking with my parents about what I'm going to get my girlfriend for Valentines day. I let them know it's a ring, with no strings attached (ie: promise ring, engagement ring, etc...though I would like it if there was....) to show my g/f that i love her. I also tell them that I'm excited to see the look on her face since I've never given her a ring before and she hardly expects it.

Anyway, a friend brings my brother home from work and asks what I'm doing tonight. I tell him...along with my parents, who are standing right there, that I'm going out to supper with my g/f. So what does my mom ask? She yells out "So are you going to give "_______" the ring tonight?"

So much for it being a surpise. Now I hope my friend doesn't go telling EVERYONE about this (which I made sure to tell him not too, in a not so nice manner....) because it WILL get back to her before we go out to supper tonight (damn cell phones! :|).

Now I know why I get her flowers at the last fricken minute 🙁
