Why on earth would you want to watch a captain riker series.

Cue off the final ep, Star Trek: Vitner.

Just aside from the high possibility of sucky writers, just where is there for a writer to go with Picard's character? In the setting that they created for him in TNG, they've pretty thoroughly fleshed out his character.

Kindly, old geriatric british/french farmer who has senile delusions of being both a Starship Captain and a Borg clone.

Hoping for the best. Hoping this series bucks the trend toward more spine-tingling special effects vice a good, believable story.

I bet he has ascended into a higher plane of being and became a Q. We shall see what kind of life lessons he can teach the new Enterprise crew.

They'll probably "re-imagine" Picard as a gender fluid pansexual who fights microaggressions.

In all honesty, I'm excited and looking forward to seeing Patrick Stewart reprise the role.

We may find him pursuing his passion for archaeology as it kicks off. Then be pressed in to service to help resolve some major threat. Or perhaps he finally decided to settle down, have kids, and be a doting father. This would give him a more personal reason to come out of retirement i.e. one of his children serving in starfleet, missing, taken captive, a similar trope. The best would be if he finally married Dr. Crusher, and Whhill Whheaton and his children are the catalyst for his return to starfleet. Because if he is still a lifer and active duty, it will be disappointing. Same old same old. We will be saying That's our John Luck Pickcard!

Another series I won't watch because its on stupid CBS all access

I don't know... I've been protesting CBS All Access for awhile now (because I don't want to have to pay for yet another friggin streaming service to watch the shows I like), but if this new Star Trek show with Patrick Stewart is actually good, I might have to pony up and pay for it.

... and then I'll make sure to share the account with enough people to insure that CBS doesn't make any profit off of me, because I'll STILL be in protest mode.

If someone kidnapped Will Wheaton, I would go have a beer to celebrate and then forget about it. What a whiny, androgenous little twerp.

Imagine Admiral JLP getting called in because Starfleet received a distress call... from the Borg. Species 8472 has been expanding their area and the Borg are looking for the best possible way to beat them, which leads them to wanting to team with those that could beat Borg even while they themselves were less strong. And that means Starfleet.
As JLP is seen as Borg 'expert' he is asked for his opinion, but of course he does not trust them and is against even considering it. However, an attack on an outpost causes Starfleet command to decide to send a ship to investigate matters, and insists that either JLP joins it, or assists them remotely.

A bitter JLP that is forced to work to defend what he hates most could be interesting.
