Damn why controllers gotta be so expensive these days. I was hoping for like 20 or 30 bucks. I was thinking of picking up a wii for parties for 4 player games but theres no way im gonna spend the 180 for 3 controllers, thats just crazy.
It really is, and Xbox360 seems to be the same deal. If you want a wireless plus a charge cable, it's $60. It's almost to the point you have to tell your friends to buy their own controllers and bring them over.

damn and there isnt even anything really special about it like the wiis one with all the sensors and stuff huh. i know ps2 controllers were cheap, i think?

Bingo.

you should've passed on THREAD CRAPPING
HD support would've driven the cost of the console up to the range of 360, or worse, PS3, nintendo is going after the casual gaming market, going back to "fun" instead of flashy graphics. i rather have a game that's fun and innovative, the kind of magic i experienced when i first played mario, zelda, tetris, final fantasy, etc, than yet another flashy but overdone FPS

look at how the DS is outselling the PSP these days everywhere, graphics isn't everything. i played my friend's PSP and wanted to cry everytime there's a loading screen.

I'm not a nintendo fanboy, but I applaud them for their latest round of consoles.

He's right. I haven't bought a game system since the original NES and original Gameboy for that reason. To friggin expensive. If I want eye candy I've got my computer for that and it's upgradeable. Just recently bought a DS Lite and it's a great little game system. Cartridge based rocks, no load screens or any of that bs and the graphics for playing Super Mario Bros or Mario Kart are fine for a screen that small. I don't think I'll ever buy a console system though. Just can't see the point. Computer does everything I want for gaming with graphics and being component upgradeable makes it cost effective. Maybe someday they'll start making game consoles more like that, and I'll pick one up.

....games? Last I checked, Zelda (and a bunch of other games) wasnt on the PC...

I guess I am the opposite of you. For the price of a nice gaming PC, I can get all the gaming consoles out, controllers, and games. Games for the PC and consoles cost basically the same, I get to play on a larger screen and with my friends (and most PC games make it onto the 360/xbox). I think its just a better investment, really. My laptop does all my computer work, my entertainment system does my games, movies, music...

hence why everyone has their preferences. buy what fits you. or don't buy if it doesn't. but sony asking $600 for a console right now seems insane.. heh.

Another bigass power brick. The console doesn't count as smaller if all you did was remove the PSU and put in an external 6 inch long box.

Should be smaller than other power bricks. Since the Wii is so small, the power adapter looks huge...

Same size as GameCube, as already mentioned.
