RedDawn:

With all this expensive computer equipment, might as well get a laugh or two. :p

Frankly, without your sense of your humor, I think we WOULD be a morass full of opinionated and sophomoric "analysts".

"Nice" opinion Mike. I suppose that if you didn't have the particular "protection" that you do and what was done to Dirk was done to you, that opinion might be a little bit different. If he truly deserves banning then you should be next, along with me and several others here. I still happen to believe in an old time, outdated notion. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Banning Dirk was wrong. And excuse me for taking censorship of opinions seriously. But then again if you're not subject to that same censorship then I guess its nothing to be concerned about, eh?

BTW, I agree with most of what you said and thats just another reason why his banning was wrong. THIS forum is SUPPOSED to enjoy greater freedom and leeway than any of the other forums and only when someone takes debates and opinions to an extreme level should the Mods interfere. If I shoudn't take whats said here so seriously, then why should the Mods? Sounds like a dual standard to me and thats not too healthy for any of us now is it? Who knows?, tommorrow's bannable opinion might be yours or mine.

I suppose that you're probably right Mike. I try to subscribe to a set of principles and apply them to every thing I say and do and participate in no matter where I'm at. If thats what you call taking every thing too seriously, then guilty as charged and I'm proud to have committed the crime. I despise anyone being treated unfairly, even here, so yeah, I'm crazy. Certifiable even.

depends what kind of replies you're talking about.

This thread had a large number of genuine replies in its first 24 hours.

Question

After the first machine recounts Gore's tally went up and Bush's went down in some precints.

I can understand how a machine can miss a ballot and not count it, then on the next run through the chad could fall off and it would then be counted.

But how can the count go down?

That illustrates the flaws in this whole process that the country has been enduring for almost 2 weeks now.

What I can't understand is they've re-counted the votes in Florida something like 3 times now. The overseas votes have come in and helped the BUSH camp. What does Gore expect will happen with a hand count?

IBhacknU,

It's purely political. He really has nothing to lose. Regardless of what happens, most Ds will still love him (or at least continue to use him and his family name and influence for future political gain). In order of preference, Gore wants:

- To steal the election.
- To cause 4 years of anti-Bush/R sentiment guaranteeing a return to power for Ds in 2004.
- To make Bush and Rs look bad.
- A place in history (even if it's as an attempted thief and con artist...seems that doesn't matter).

This fight is for power and everyone knows it. The Will of the People, fairness and ethical considerations have gone out the window.

Actually, politics has always been like this. The only difference is that most people were never aware of it. They are now.

We'll probably get to relive the whole thing via a movie (hopefully not made for tv) in the next few years.

Great and you thought that Clinton was bad, now you have a Bush and a Dick in the whitehouse.

we know two things. Ellen Degenerous like Bush
and Elton John like Dick.

Red,

Yeah I do believe it's attempted larceny. Nah, I'm not lowering my standards to believe this (how can giving one's opinion be "lowering yourself"?). Had Gore and the Ds gone "hand's off" and simply let FL do it's thang I'd have no complaints. But they have their hands in everything and their operatives are everywhere.

Now to rip on the Rs: I don't believe their propaganda regarding the military overseas ballots. If the ballots aren't postmarked or postmarked after Nov. 7th they should not be included in the count. I realize there's a difference between FL state law and federal law on this so the courts must make the final call. But the rules in existence on Nov. 7th must apply. No "ifs", "ands" or big "butts".

Red,

btw your new icon fits you well. IMO you ought to keep that bird. I considered the raven along with that wolf icon...but this cute little penguin just "talks to me" ya know? :)
