For fuck sake Wings. Not even 10 minutes into the game and you are down 0-3. THis team won't last long in the playoffs.
They are just disinterested. They'll wake up at playoff time, however I'm not sure that their forwards are as defensibly sounds as in past years. They seem to not be as instinctual with their coverage in front of their own net. Too many times when they were playing at the top of their game this year there were too many defensive breakdowns.

The wings will live and die by their ability to control the puck and by not letting the other team get a sniff at their net. They can do this when the game is being played at a full gallop, not this trotting around. This is where they shine, when plays are made without being given much time to think, but if they hang Howard out to dry they won't be hoisting any cup.

Ugh, Devils were just terrible this afternoon, losing 5-2 to that Ranger team? Please. Hopefully Carolina can take care of business against Tampa Bay.

Even Chris Drury came out of semi-retirement to participate in the beatdown on the Devils :D

Revolving door to the penalty box for Tampa... refs are keeping this one interesting.

EDIT: Tampa just put this one to bed. Strong playoff run by Carolina though.

told you guys they wouldnt make it

the coach routinely cancels practice after a back to back ending in a loss, they ALWAYS get tired on back to back games. one of the youngest teams in the league (the youngest this season?) and the coach allows them to slack off

i went to the game but left after the first period ended 3 - 0, tampa bay. totally scared a couple of kids and got lots of kudos from people in the building:

The Hawks just took the decision out of their own hands, need to wait for the Dallas game now.

I'll be at Game 1 at the Shark Tank next week, am going to the Portland Winterhawks game later today and my Habs are in and playing the Bruins round 1. Exciting hockey times for me. :)

At least the Avs won their finale so Foote can go out on a high note for his last game. If they don't make a run at Bryzgalov in the offseason I'm going to be irate.

Dallas should have it in the bag, just need to win. Amazing if Chicago doesn't get in the playoffs after winning the Cup, but that's hockey for ya.

A host of injuries during the season and the Hawks being streaky as all hell put them where they are all. That being said...GO WILD GO!

I guess my mocking of the Blackhawks will have to be delayed by two weeks.

Not exactly a draw I like if I'm Vancouver, though.

No Byf, no probs. Canucks in 5.

Yup, the Hawks sure miss Buff. He got better this year as well, around 20 points better which would have been even higher with the potent Hawks offense. A shame they made some bad deals and couldn't keep him. Was fun watching him and Pronger in the Finals.

LOL, Devils win the draft lottery. We're going to get RNH, Larsson, Landeskog, or Couturier!!

OMG!

I was kind of annoyed that we won the last game of the season and dropped from 6th pick to 8th pick. Second year in a row we hurt ourselves by winning the last game of the season (would have rather let Buffalo play Philly in the first round last year).

For the sake of my sanity, I'm going to assume that if we hadn't won that game we also wouldn't have won the lottery, because we'd have had a different spot. So 4 > 6 > 8, and we'll just assume we never had a shot at #2. :)

I had to check Wikipedia to see the last time we drafted that high (earned or traded) - 1991, Scott Niedermayer, 3rd overall.

Obviously, there's no way to know; but with the way the lottery works, I don't think we would've won if we were sixth instead of eighth. I think whoever was eighth was going to win.

Yep, traded Tom Kurvers to the Leafs for their 1st round pick and it ended up being Niedermayer at #3. Probably our best trade ever (since Scott Stevens was technically compensation and not a trade).

In all likelyhood we'll end up with Couturier, and I'm tickled pink. He should be very similar to Travis Zajac with more offensive ability.

RNH has been compared to Pavel Datsyuk and Matt Duchene and is the consensus #1. Landeskog is a power forward right wing, a Swede that's already been in North America for two years. A lot of Devils fans want him the most. And last but certainly not least is Adam Larsson, the guy we've been salivating over ever since our season collapsed in October/November.

We're going to do very very well with this pick.

To be quite honest, I couldn't remember how the draft lottery worked and was too lazy to look it up :sneaky:. Thanks.
