exactly what i was thinking watching the game. maybe they didnt and just felt like taking it easy?
I wish it was just that but the last 10 games or so it looks like the Wings have no life in them. After that blow out game against you would think that they play with a little bit more passion than just 2 games but nope.

That was a kick,

Nittymaki sucks, but that was not a goal.
If you are talking about the Hossa "goal" I agree. Didn't even look like his stick hit it before it went in. Bullshit call the NHL should be embarrassed.

He was talking about one of the goals in the 6-2 win for the Ducks. It was a good goal. He angled his skate (which is legal), and it was not a "distinct kicking motion" (which would not be legal).

Since no one has said it yet... Perry for MVP! :D

I'd take Perry over one of the Sedin's , that guy is a s.o.b. to play against and is getting better every year

Sedin 80 41 59 100 28 32 258 15.9 18 22 0 0 10 18:32
Perry 80 50 47 97 9 104 285 17.5 14 16 4 1 11 22:09

Statwise, Perry is up there for sure. He could win it but very doubtful since Vanc is hands down the best team in the land.

The Sedins are good because they have each other. Split them up and I doubt they would have as good as the stats they have. Not saying they aren't good, but they are better together than they would be apart. IMO, that helps Perry's case for MVP.

Doesn't Perry play with Getzlaf?

Uhm, how much time does Perry play with Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan? My reasoning for Perry as mvp is that overall his team isn't as good as the Canucks, take him out for the season and they would be much worse off than if Sedin is missing from the Canucks..

Blackjack and KMFJD, you both have valid points. I looked at the league leader's stats. http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats.htm
So is someone who leads the league in assists (by a big enough margin he leads in overall points) and happens to be on the Pres. Trophy winning team valuable enough to be league MVP? Keep this in mind... in comparison to Sedin, Perry has 9 more goals, 4 more short-handed goals, higher scoring percentage, higher TOI, higher faceoff wins; all that with 70 more penalty minutes.

Just imagine what the picture would look like if Perry had an identical twin. :D

The Sedin's are Scandinavian so I doubt two Perry's would look better than them. ;)

BTW, I always knew you were green with envy.

Reminds me of a couple of years ago, I was in Toronto for a hockey tournament, and we ended up staying in the same hotel as Jared Staal. He was in town for the combine.

We were meeting up to head out for the game when he came into the lobby so everyone started gawking. I said "he's really not as good as his brothers, right?" (it was a pretty big lobby and he wasn't close enough to hear). One of my teammates goes, 'nah, not really'. I said "oh well, at least he's not as ugly as his brothers".

Well, Daniel was out for ~19 games last year and Henrik still won the scoring title.

way past done, but yeah. im going to the last game on saturday for the hell of it and to see some friends that i wont see again much until next season

Carolina controls its own destiny now. And you better believe the Devils are going to do everything they can to get you into the playoffs. You may only need to win one more. Also, quit hating on your team so much! It's bad enough those guys have to live in North Carolina... :p

This season was among the most fun I've had as a Devils fan, despite the terrible start. The run was awesome, though we knew all along that it would take a miracle. I'm kind of glad it ended a couple of weeks ago instead of falling a couple of points short at the end of the season. Missing the playoffs after so many years of always winning sucks, but I think the way we lost in the first round to Carolina in '09 was worse.

After this season, nothing would make me happier than watching the Devils knock the Rangers out of the playoffs in the last game of the season. Even better if a Trollvalchuk GWG does it. Better still if the goal is scored 10 seconds in and we spend the rest of the game trapping so people can bitch some more about the Devils playing boring hockey while their teams trap too.

This summer: sign Parise, hire (or re-hire) an awesome coach, win cup.

i might hate them less if the team and org acted sensibly. i want to enjoy hockey for years, not watch shitty games with half ass action and piss poor coaching. the point is to be entertained, if theyre not entertaining i still go to games and buy things and support the team. if theyre entertaining i buy more. *shrug*

edit: the only reason id even care about seeing them make the playoffs is because i think itd be cool for skinner. 30 goal rookie year, maybe the calder, got into the playoffs, all at 18...not a bad way to start a career; he should be fun to watch over the next few years

Definitely. I didn't say it at the time because I wanted to be positive, but the run we had was never so much about the playoffs to me. It was about the team picking itself up off the canvas and standing in there for one more round, for pride. Yeah, they got knocked out in the end, but they didn't go quietly.

maybe the hurricanes will win...maybe atlanta will sandbag it a little just to fuck with new york and try to squeeze 3 southern teams into the playoffs. ill watch the game, at least half-assedly. its nice out, and i plan on having a few drinks.

For fuck sake Wings. Not even 10 minutes into the game and you are down 0-3. THis team won't last long in the playoffs.

Will be going to the Ducks game tonight. Wouldn't mind seeing Perry go for another hat trick again.

Daniel was hurt for a significant period last year. Henrik's production wasn't lower at all, and he still won the Hart and Art Ross.

well, with a surprising 3 - 0 lead in the 3rd i definitely drank outside the rest of the game.

also still surprised these guys have a chance to keep a playoff spot still. im going to the game tonight vs tampa bay, and im wearing a darth vader helmet.
