Week 5 NFL...discuss.....

have the Pats called Daunte Culpepper yet? Did Carson Palmer have a doctor examine the giant fork sticking out of his back? Has Najeh Davenport crapped in anyone else's laundry basket? Was letting tatum bell help me bring my luggage to Logan a mistake? Answers to all these questions and more in this thread!

Just curious why do people think New England will win...In case you haven't figured it out yet I'm a diehard 49ers fan and I honestly don't see what the Pats have anymore. They have a very weak run game that will get consumed by Patrick Willis and the 49ers were 2nd in NFL in pass defense prior to the Saints game. Plus, the Pats have been playing a very conservative pass game with lots of screens and stuff to break Matt Cassell into the system. I just don't think the Pats will win this one, anyone care to tell me how they think they can win?

When Maroney decides not to dance in the pocket like a QB, he is good (he sometimes has more steps than a backstreet boys concert). The D is actually pretty good. Their last game was highly unexpected. Yes, their passing game is horrible now. Cassel does not have the QB instinct....yet. He is very scared to throw the ball in the air like favre does. The pats o line should fair well against SF, which is what the pats need to have.

Frank Gore is going to have a field day against NE's horrible running defense.

yea he managed to get 160 yards from scrimmage against the saints despite the fact they could get no offense going but i hope he does lead the league in yards from scrimmage this year because people who dont watch the 49ers have no idea what kind of a workhorse he is for our offense lol

Troy Aikman had 13 300 yard passing games in his 165 games with the Dallas Cowboys. Tony Romo matched that franchise record in just his 30th game yesterday.

They didn't have to pass all that much with Emmitt around. ;)

da bears.

They have a legit shot at winning their next 4 games: Detroit, ATL, Minny, Detroit. As long as Orton stops trying to be Peyton Favre, we might be ok.

Until they get a quarterback there are only two teams I would pick them to win over.

The Steelers got really beat up against the Ravens last night and already have the league's toughest schedule:

at Jacksonville
Bye
at Cincinnati
NY_Giants
Washington
Indianapolis
San_Diego
Cincinnati
at New_England
Dallas
at Baltimore
at Tennessee
Cleveland

This might be the last they see of 2 games over .500 when relying on your fourth sting RB and have an offensive line with some many holes a Swiss cheese maker would shed tears of jealousy over.

Ravens & Titans

The Raven's QB, Flacco had some poise on Monday, but I don't think his line will do much against TN's pass rush defense. What he did best was allow his offense to create opportunities for HIM to throw the ball and he relied on his defense to get the ball back to him. This is huge because I saw him throw away a couple of 3rd & long passes without beating himself up over it...if there wasn't a play, he didn't force anything. That's huge in the NFL....it makes me think you won't see many picks out of this kid for a couple of years.

As long as the Titans' secondary does their job and doesn't give up yards after the catch, I expect him to have a really bad night. Bullock's been on fire the last couple of games and the defensive punishers (Vander Bosch, Haynesworth, and Kearse) have been able to crush most offensive lines so far and they even blitz less than most other NFL teams.

As for Kerry Collins and the offense, they have to make plays. The Titans look really good on the ground, but are fairly predictable. White didn't travel very far up the middle against the Vikings last week....he seems to be gaining only a handfull of yards per carry. Against a good line and secondary, Johnson isn't as effective unless the defense plays pass. They've seen tapes of him and are learning his angles, so when they play run he's restricted to 8-10yards. The only way Johsnon and White will be efffective is if Collins can pass the ball down field to open up the running game...and I'm not talking screen passes to Johnson.

Even if the Skins lose to the Eagles..they have great chance to win the following 3 games..Rams, Browns, Lions. I hope Westbrook stays home to heal that ankle ;)

True, but only one other quarterback in NFL history has reached that mark faster (Kurt Warner in 20 games).
