Why was Christian Ponder drafted so high? His college stats were not that great but at the same time his NFL stats are very similar to those he had in college so he seems to be playing the same caliber ball. So what set him as a high first round pick?

In comparison, Colin Kaepernick was drafted AFTER Ponder, in the second round. Sigh.

GB starting bad and making the playoffs has little to do with them getting momentum and more to do with everyone else in the NFC North being absolute garbage. Last year, is the perfect example.

I don't have faith the Lions can not lose the division (because, they will find a way to lose, not be beaten), and with the Vikings being in Ponder town, the Bears are set to go one and done in the playoffs! Hurray!

Yep, and Detroit did lose the division last year as well, winning only like 1 of their final 6 games (or something like that), and again having the divison gift-wrapped when the packers beat the bears.

LOL Lions, LOL Bears, LOL NFCN.

Kaep still denying he used the N word and directed it at Lamarr Houston of the Bears. Houston initially came out and stated he didn't hear anything resembling that, after Kaep was fined. However, Houston has changed his story, stated he did hear it.

Jerry Jones is facing another sexual assault lawsuit. This one, apparently, he paid to keep silent for 5 years. Guess that money has run out, as she is seeking $1 million in damages.

de la Puente is small for a center isn't he? The Bears run game was terrible.

Their defense was decent, but Allen looks a bit slow (getting hits on the QB, but no sacks) and Tillman being out is going to hurt against teams better than the Jets.

I do agree they have looked better than the Packers though. If Cutler has no mistakes, Forte gets more than 15 total yards on the ground, and Marshall does more than jog around, it shouldn't be a problem.

yeah hes a bit small, allen.....yeah. he looks OK

Tillman being out might be good, and I read some experts opinions that agree. he was having issues keeping up with the faster Bills WR's, which could have become a liability against many many other teams(like the packers)

fuller is a few steps faster, and they feel that the move Jennings made to accommodate fuller and tillman made Jennings worse, and now hes back where he was
The Lions were a head coach away from dominating the NFC North the last 2 years. Now that they have a new coach I fully expect them to win the division based solely on their talent.

Jim Schwartz was just incapable of disciplining his players to the point where they wouldn't beat themselves with stupid penalties and it lost way to many games for the lions. They seem to be much more in control so far this year.

the lions had 3 or 4 turnovers last week. not exactly championship caliber football

Kaep still denying he used the N word and directed it at Lamarr Houston of the Bears. Houston initially came out and stated he didn't hear anything resembling that, after Kaep was fined. However, Houston has changed his story, stated he did hear it.

Its funny Kaep thinks he can somehow avoid this, you know there is audio of it SOMEWHERE that NBC is sitting on.....

Sundays game will tell us alot about this team. If Allen gets a couple of sacks agaisnt the weakest tackle he has faced this year things may turn around for him. Houston should have a sack as well since he matches up really well on the other side. I can see the D line dominating for the first time this year. The Pack gave up a could of turnovers to the lions and the lions gave a few back.

Tillman was getting slow in coverage but was still physical enough to make a difference against Megatron. Were gonna miss Tillman when Mega comes to town. This week Fuller will hold his own if the safeties can prevent deep completions to Nelson in the deep middle of the field. The Pack always killed the bears with throws over the deep middle when the safeties were in run support or out of position or if they bit on play action or a fake. Rodgers has killed us this way. Bears much more disciplines in play action and zone read last two weeks.

Bears show alot of cover 2 still and have been crazy vanilla in their looks defensively. I think this is the reason the rookies have done so well nothing too crazy for them to see. They dont have much to learn. Soon defenses are gonna key on the cover 2 and go deep middle and work the sidelines if they dont get a little more exotic. Bears seem to be adding a wrinkle or two every week though this week with the injuries and short week I doubt we will see much new stuff though the bears work the pack all year in schemes and gameplanning since the pack are the most important matchups yearly with playoff implications.

Bears did a good job blitzing for the first time in years against the Jets. Hopefully they keep blitzing a little on run downs and show more Cover 1 robber and make people throw at jennings and fuller. Bears also showed blitz three or four times and covered out instead of blitzing and this confused the hell out of Geno. Dont think that willl work as well against Rodgers. Dont think Rodgers will have a hard time throwing screens like Geno.

Is Dom Capers just too old now? Are his days numbered pack fans?
Gonna be a good game!

yes we rank like 26th in blitzing

and I agree megatron will be when we miss tillman for sure

I think we should see a bit more scheming on D each week as these rookies get more reps

also, I think allen did really well again the jets, considering he was against one of the top OL's in the league, he was worse against buffalo and the niners

Ya it does look like allen and briggs are playing their way into shape. Vets just cant turn it on like they used to.

Nickel back is gonna be a problem this year.... I dont like Frey at all. Guy is always two steps late though he did cause a fumble for the first time in his career this week didnt he?

I was commenting more on Allen's play this entire season. He just has been a step or two late every time he's gotten pressure. I mean, it is still an impact to get hits on the QB, but actually getting sacks does a lot more.

Ya he looked terrible against buffalo. At this point in the season veteran leadership notwithstanding his money would have been better spent keeping hester and signing a real safety and two more players for depth.

The only reason I can think that he is fighting this is if he actually didn't say it. People would have already forgotten it, if he had just apologized and moved on $11,000 poorer.

its bad for his brand and will affect him going forward when it comes to licensing and endorsements.

He doesnt want to be known as Jameis sr

good bear news. Mundy and Conte should play this weekend and are healing nicely though Allen didnt practice today because of some undisclosed illness. I bet he has the flu. Briggs and a few other guys had it last week.

Do any of you guys think that the coming testing of HGH is gonna impact a ton of stars? I wonder whos gonna be the Giambi of the NFL

That was clearly an illegal hit as defined by the rules that were put in place in 2002 when Hugh Douglas made a similar hit. Anyone who is impartial and sees that hit knows it was against the rules. If that was against Manning, Brees, or Brady, that would have been a big fine.

The only rule I can find concerning a blindside block is if the player is approaching the ball carrier from behind. Foles was legally eligible to be blocked, and he got laid out. The hit was done with the forearms and was to the chest. It wasn't an illegal hit in any way. It wasn't even a big hit. If anything, it was questionably late. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/9/21/6788139/eagles-washington-brawl-after-nick-foles-hurt

Also, it wouldn't happen to Manning, Brees, or Brady, because they aren't stupid enough to get in that position.

And, had this happened to Romo, you'd all be in here cheering about it.

This, was a clean block. Maybe next time he'll either A) avoid trying to tackle someone or B) man up and make a real effort to do so
