Are you sold on Tebow anyway? All the stats guys are saying it's not Tebow winning, it's the defense. The numbers seem to bear that out. But I won't say that he's hurting their team. I think he brings a certain optimism to the locker room that helps everyone even if he's not very good at throwing the ball.
Tebow helps keep his defense rested by successfully managing the run game (something Orton could not do even with Moreno), keeps opposing defenses honest with his big-play ability both on the ground and in the air (something Orton could not do even with Lloyd), and he inspires the entire team to be the very best they can be (something Orton could not do if his life depended on it, check out what Miller and Bailey have to say about Tebow).
It's not just Tebow, and it's not just the defense. The entire team is playing much better. I am by no means sold on his ability to keep this up, and I don't expect them to continue to win like this, but he's doing far better than Orton
at what his job actually is. There are a lot of places which are content to bottom-feed, sell jerseys, and Suck For Luck for years on end, but that doesn't fly in Denver. In Denver, quarterbacks aren't expected to put up flashy stats or win popularity contests...they're expected to win football games.
Don't think for a second that even Elway will keep his job if he doesn't quickly take the Broncos back to contention.
