why isn't the packers D getting more shit? so much for a top 3 rated defense giving up 34 points to NO at home.

Brees had his way with them...400+ yrds and 3 tds.

The Saints O definitely outplayed the Packers D. The Packers D gave up a ton of yards and over 30 points. BUT, the Packers D also made a few key plays to stop the Saints. They also held the Saints to something like 1 of 5 in the redzone. And the other factor is that the Packers won. :) When that Green Bay offense is clicking, the defense may not have to be great this year, just good enough.

That was a damn good game to open the season... Unfortunately, it also sets a pretty high bar for the games to follow, and invariably very few will be able to meet it. Oh well, great game all the same. I was really hoping for OT, but I'm happy the Packers won.

My nbc feed was fine. Was watching usa during pregame but it was getting some lag so switched it over to nfl channel.

The reason cobb made that runbaack is because at one point he was on the filled with booth legs pointed up to the sky and I'm sure most of the saints quit on the play at that point. At the same time they smashed the number of touchbacks recorded at lambeau last year as most of the returns had the receiver with his feet just before the out of bounds line when the ball came down.

cause it's the saints.

explosive offenses > great defenses.

yeah i know its the saints and they had a few key stops. but the nut-hugging going on and marking them as supposedly superbowl bound was ridiculous. come on now, they gave up almost 500 yards and the sports media would have you believe this is the best team in the league when 30 other teams haven't even played yet.

the GB corners did look like scrubs out there, getting beaten 1-on-1 time and again. Woodson is clearly no longer a dominant force but I think Williams/Shields/Woodson can cover much better than they showed last night.

That was probably the best 2 nfc passing offenses last night, went about as expected

You act like everyone is claiming that but I see more "nut-hugging" going on for the Eagles and Packers. Same for the Chargers and Patriots. I don't know why you're surprised either. The Saints are 2 years removed from winning the Super Bowl and might actually be better than their Super Bowl team too (they pretty quietly had some big signings this year). The fact that they just played a hell of a game against the previous Super Bowl winners at Lambeau, where the Packers looked pretty stellar actually supports the "nut-hugging" I think.

I'm looking at the Lions as a "sleeper" team this year, not to win the SB but to improve a lot and get to the playoff's..

So long as Stafford can stay healthy. If Shaun Hill has to QB for a good portion of the season, it's a little more dicey I think.

Just because I'm sick of this, can we not say the exact same thing about:

  • Brady and the Patriots
  • Peyton and the Colts (Oh, wait...)
  • Rodgers and the Pack
  • Ryan and the Falcons
  • Vick and the Eagles
  • Schaub and the Texans
  • Rivers and the Chargers
  • Breesus and the Saints
Glad we got that clarified.

Other than Peyton who's currently injured, the rest of those QBs aren't injury prone. Stafford's young and hasn't played a full season yet. The concerns are valid when talking about the Lion's success.

Yea, it's true for all teams, what impressed me about the Lions was how well their "D" line play was vs the Pats in that preseason game, if they can play at that level they can make opposing offenses miserable. The game vs the Bucs is televised here today, should be interesting as the Bucs had a good season last year, just missed the playoff's..

I don't believe that Stafford is injury prone, but that's obviously debatable. He had no injury history until '09. Just unlucky so far. He'll be fine.

That said, this video always gets me pumped up about football. What a badass.

Finally some offense in the Bills game. Before that drive, both teams combined for 61 yards of offense. 14-0 Buffalo.
