Can judge talent and play calls BETTER? It's just so stupid to think anyone knows better.

Ok that one is debatable....Mad Martz calling that end around on 3rd & 3 or whatever it was at the end of the game? Really? End arounds are like THE WORST play ever.

I could say the same for the Packers passing on 3rd and 1s (and I have said it)
But the point is, that these guys know what they are doing 99% of the time. The 1% it looks like we "know better", I'm still going to have to say they know better. There may be something in the specific D coverage they had seen the Packers in before from watching films that said an end-around should work. Or a package mis-match... or SOMETHING.

We question the calls when they don't work because that's easy. Hindsight is a bitch.

Sorry...I just hate End Arounds and think they are one of the worst plays you can possibly call. They might work in high school where players are slower and not as adept at recognizing them...but it's like the lowest percentage of success of any "run" play you can get. It takes forever to shape up and you are so far in the backfield it's almost always blown up for a loss.

As for GB going pass on 3 & 1...well...just shows you their faith in the run game and respect they gave Chicago in the run stop. I'd rather put the ball in the hands of Rodgers and let him make a play with his arm or legs. Can't ding them for it.

The Pats had pretty good success with end arounds/fake end arounds this year. I remember wondering why they kept on running it but they got a lot of yards on it.

See but the Packers DID have a solid short-down running game. Kuhn picked up 3rd and 1s all season long on the ground.

See THIS is a classic example of armchair QBing. WTF do I REALLY know about the situation. yet here I spout about "I know better!!!!!"

Has nothing to due with me liking the team, all about a bunch of pussies out there that can't man up to Ryan as the jets coach.

As for the game, I do believe I was the one that said they needed to get at least 10 points surrounding halftime to get back in the game and that they blew the calls at the goal line which would have put them right back into it only one score down and 8 minutes to go.

You can hate the team all you want, but other than LT the offensive side of the ball is very young as well as the defensive secondary. Main area to be addressed is D line and line backers.

And I don't think this year it matters how many free agents you may have, as with how late a labor agreement is likely to be completed, what free agency is remains to be seen as well as teams likely to shy away from unknown (in their system) players with minimal practice time till the season starts.

I think it's very likely NYJ could play out like the iggles and head to several AFC title games with a superbowl visit or two sprinkled in if the talent keeps developing and injuries stay contained.

And while certain members take a minute to release from mannings jock, remember that when you are facing a constant 4 and 5 man spread, it's the DBs that matter particularly against someone with a real fast release. Why don't you look for running stats last night before and after pouncey went out cause seemed to me like their was a difference.

No doubt they did but Chicago was pretty stout up the middle. Probably the best play of the game was that bootleg that Rodgers ran in for the touchdown. They had a 3 back formation with Kuhn and I looked to my wife and said "watch Kuhn punch it in"...and then Rodgers goes tearing off to the left and just kisses it in. Awesome call.

Did you catch the FB on that play? #90 BJ Raji. They had used it before and it looked like the Bears (along with countless others watching I'm sure) got suckered into it. It was a BRILLIANT play IMO.

Yep, I saw him checking in with the refs for eligibility. That play was crazy...I was like 3 backs? 4 if you count Raji as 2 :)

I'd like to know what sort of Recon Pitt does on that one. If they line up again do actually feed it to the big guy?

Well they've lined it up twice. 1st time Raji cleared the path for Kuhn (insert Madden sound effect here). 2nd time Rodgers just rolls out and scampers in.

3rd time?... give it to Raji for the plunge!!! I really hope we see that formation again. No matter what happens its a fun one to watch I think.

Raji was already like around these parts (we love our big fat DLine men like Gilbert Brown). Now with that FB position AND the Pick 6? He's a super hero.

Does Raji have a burger named after him yet? Remember the Gilbertburger at Burger King back in the day Homer?

Ok, so I missed part of the Packers/Bears game yesterday and didn't see Cutler's injury. What I did see, however, was footage of him moping on the sideline and riding the exercise bike. So my question is:

Was Cutler being a pussy, or was he really injured enough not to play? I just have memories of people like Bernie Kosar playing with a broken ankle and Emmitt Smith willing the Cowboys to an NFC East title with 2 separated shoulders, and I am thinking to myself: "Get back out there, you wuss!" (I wanted the Packers to win, for the record)

Cutler was completely ineffective. probably being a pussy, too. I thoiught he came out for the first drive of the 2nd half, but I could have missed that. it was 3-out anyway, I think.

He had a "bloody elbow" in the 1st half--memories of Schilling's bloody sock were intentionally influenced by broadcast, I think. But it was "his knee" that kept him out. Little to no details as to how or when that happened during the half. He wasn't really missed. The bears would have had a better shot had they started Hainey, considering how he played as a a barely-practiced 3rd-stringer.

Oh well, it's all about the Packers now!

it was a torn MCL they are reporting. So he had a pretty good reason for dropping out.

You're the one fixated with blaming the Jets' loss in the AFC Championship on the loss of a couple of guys and then turn around and act as if the Colts losing 20+ guys (IIRC, the actual number who missed the playoff game vs. the Jets was 23) was a non-factor. You can make the same argument that you did about any of the Colts' missing players. Allow me:

1. Did you know that 3 of the starting 4 members of the secondary were out for the Colts?
2. Did you know that of the 3 secondary guys out, only 1 had a backup who actually played? The other backups were also all knocked out.
3. Did you know that the Colts were missing 3 of their top 5 receivers?
4. The Colts' starting DT was out, along with at least one of their starting linebackers.

You can continue this idiocy and act as if the loss of two players is more signficant than losing half of your starting defense and nearly half of your starting offense, but no one is falling for it. And even at that, the Jets nearly lost and probably should have.

As others have said, you have no room to talk until the Jets win something of note. They haven't even managed to win their division, let alone their conference or Super Bowl. So keep talking, because if the Jets want to be mentioned in the same breath as the Colts, Steelers, and Patriots, they better start notching some big wins instead of bragging about beating teams missing 40%+ of their normal players, losing in the conference final, and then making excuses.

Ah. didn't see that.

lol at how fans will want to fire Lovie. This was my first comment after the game yesterday.

Chicago is a hilarious sports town.

They are fanatics... but knee-jerk fanatics. There is no middle ground for them.

He did make some really dumb moves yesterday. Choosing not to go for a 49-yard field goal, instead getting an 11-net-yard punt? Dumb as rocks. Continuing to have Todd Collins as 2nd rather than 3rd string when he already demonstrated how bad he is compared to Caleb Hanie on multiple occasions in the regular season? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

That said, you don't fire a coach for getting your team to the conference championship.

lovie is below average on challeges 31% vs league avg of 35% and just bad with timeouts(see 3rd and short, and it wasnt the only time he did that this year).

I really question if he has to stuff to make a GREAT team. I like how he sticks up for the team and players in the media, but lets be honest, the bears werent that good this year. they had some luck help them to the record they had this year.

x2 what astromanluca said, I was vocal about the stupidness of collins presense from the second the let him play once. Hanie was then and still is the better QB

he sslow to make lot sof decisions, hiring ron turner was a horrid idea when he did it, and it took him 5 years to fire him?

but I guess who kows how much of this is jerry angelo too
