Then Kobe was the right person and not Gasol

Disagree. Kobe scores more but only because he shoots way more than anyone else.

His game 1 was decent. Game 2 was pretty weak. Game 3 was terrible (10 for 29) but was overlooked because they won. Game 4 was mixed. He was okay on offense but had 7 TOs. Game 5 was his good game in the loss. Game 6 was relatively quiet but they won on defense. Game 7 was terrible.

Gasol, admittedly played not so great in the 3 losses but his play in the 4 wins was pretty impressive with 10+ rebs and his scoring was on 14 shots max.

But they had to give it to Kobe for marketing reasons. Bill Russell giving away the award was an awkward moment.

And there are riots already in LA. Terrible.

Doc said that they were too tired. Without Ray hitting open jumpers and Rondo getting up on the transition plays (which was difficult due to the offensive rebounding of the lakers), the current celtics have little reliable offense.

That said, this celtics group will go down as one of the greatest in history. They DEMOLISHED the lakers in 08 and would have done so tonight if they weren't too old.

"Go down as one of the great in history" what?

As far as age... it's part of the game, part of life. Maybe if Paul Pierce kept himself in better shape, he would have had the lateral quickness to get around the much larger Pau Gasol.

Celts did look tired, probably from their age. I remember one possession in the 4th Q. They got a stop, Rondo(?) with the rebound, ran down the floor for a transition play. Except it was 1 or 2 on 5 with the Lakers all back and the Celtics laboring to get on offense.

Allen's legs were totally gone from guarding Kobe all series. His jump shot in games 3-7 were non-existent. He probably lost himself 10-20M as a free agent with that performance.

08 celtics is probably the best team in the last 20 years.

Maybe... the 90's had a lot of bad basketball, but those Jordan/Pippen teams were awfully good, regardless. Pippen, in particular, would be matchup hell, especially in the 21st century NBA where zone defense is allowed.

Also, the Kobe/Shaq Lakers...as good as Perkins is, Shaq could foul him out.

It would be interesting, that's for sure.

Is Reggie Miller a better player than Ray Allen?

Me thinks so.

It's hard to evaluate now.. so emotional... Ray is one of my favorite players, and to see him come up short on the offensive end is disappointing. It's hard to imagine Reggie not hitting some big shots.

But Kobe would have abused Reggie more than Ray.

I would just like to thank the following people for this amazing moment:

Dougp: Your relentless fanboism of the Spurs warms my heart, and makes me laugh. You have to be the biggest "believer" I have ever encountered.

Quebert: Oh the tears must taste so salty right now. It must hurt that you will never accomplish 1/100 of what the man you hate, KB24MVP (x2) has.

The rest of the Kobe/Laker haters: Maybe next year 😉

3 PEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad it took such a "great" team 7 games to beat a tired and old Celtics.

Oh come on, Jesus Christ. THe lakers just won the championship. They obviously weren't THAT bad. They beat everyone else. What more do you freaking want?

of course not but you have people like OCguy and all the other dumb Laker fans that think they are the greatest when obviously if they are so great, so should have ended it in 4.
