And those of anyone else who chooses to chime in. On Thursday I interviewed a job candidate for a student position who seemed to be a nice guy, but made some critical errors during his interview.
First, when someone asks you a question, answer the question they asked. Feel free to go into more detail if you wish. Feel free to take a minute to think over an answer. A delayed but well-thought answer is appreciable. A five-minute long ramble that's off-topic doesn't qualify.
Second, if you're doing a role-play that involves personal communication skills and empathy, don't 1) cut off the person who's supposedly coming to you for help, 2) spend the entire time talking about your personal experiences, and 3) especially when they're not relevent to the problem at hand!
That's all I can think of right now, I know I'll have more after tomorrow's round.
