I am trying to assemble a list of the subscription services for downloading MP3's. Please add your site information and comments, and I will keep the list updated.

Service: Apple's Itune Service:
URL: apple.com/itunes
Fees: 99 cents per song. No subscription fees.
Features: Download and keep songs. Burn songs to CD. Copy to portable devices. Providing streaming media to your other MAC computers.
Drawbacks: Currently only for MACs.

Service: MP3.com (is emusic.com the same thing?)
URL: www.mp3.com
Fees: $14.95 per month or $9.95 per month (if user subscribes for one year)
Features: Download entire albums. Access to over 250,000 songs. Able to burn songs to CD and copy to portable devices.
Drawbacks: Not cost-effective for those who only download a few songs per month.

Service: Pressplay
URL: pressplay.com
Fees: $9.95 per month. Extra fees to download songs.
Features: Play streaming audio, download and burn songs.
Drawbacks: Have to pay extra to be able to burn CD's and copy songs to portable devices (about $1 per song.) When you end your subscription, you can not listen to any songs for which you did not pay the extra fee.

Service: Rhapsody
URL: http://www.listen.com
Fees: $9.95 per month. $0.79 per song to burn.
Features: Stream and burn songs. Access to 25,000 albums. "CD quality" using WMA codec.
Drawbacks: Streaming only, i.e. no downloading. Must pay fee for each track you want to burn.

I signed up for the free trial that is offered by mp3.com, and I did not download anything because they did not have any of the artists I was looking for. Some examples include: Sting, U2, and some other big names.
