I've decided to go ahead and get it, I'm not sure why I was thinking I could miss the gaming event of the year. Too bad I don't have anybody to go to a midnight release with, I guess I'll just wait until tomorrow and try my luck at a few different stores.

I did that for GTA4, and swore I'd never go to one by myself again. If anything, I might take a trip out to Walmart right at midnight or a little after to see if I can snag a copy, then take a half day off work tomorrow to get some play time in. But I'm definitely not waiting in any lines without a friend present. It is incredibly boring if you don't have anyone to converse with. I'm not much on socializing though, so maybe you can strike up some conversations.

Oh it won't just be standing in a line. They're also going to have a thing at the friday's restauant nearby where they will have the game set up and half price appetizers and drinks.

At least at the gamestop near me, the midnight releases are handled as good as they possibly can be. Everyone has to prepay in full before getting on line, so when midnight hits, they're basically just handing out the games and the line goes super fast. You could prepay after work, then come back at 1210-1215 and there should hardly be any line left. No need to actually stand in line unless you want to be of the first few to get it.

I went to one for Wrath of the Lich King by myself. Worse idea ever. I was hoping to be able to have some sort of normal conversation with someone there. Every single one of them were horrible stereotypical WoW nerds. Some guy was bragging the entire night that someone mentioned him on the WoW forums.

Its not worth going anymore since they dont sell out of games anymore. They make so much stock now that you dont even have to pre-order a game and you'll get one.

I'll stroll into Best Buy tomorrow on my lunchbreak, got a $10 off coupon might as well use it. They will probably will be sold out because I live in a densely populated area...seems to be the case with new releases, especially hyped ones like this.

They will probably have the $150 Prestige version with the cheap night vision googles left as the only option, if so I'll pass.

Don't be so sure about that. The Prestige edition was made in limited quantities and apparently the only way to get a copy was to pre-order it. Most e-tailers pulled the item off their sites a month or so ago.

Wait, I've got something worse. I live in fuck*ng Quebec (French Canada if you want), and there are NO EB Games doing the Midnight Launch.... every other province and territory have many EB Games doing it. None in Quebec.

For the first time, I was down for it... guess I'm going to have to wait until 11AM (time at which the store opens)....

I'm anxiously awaiting for my Amazon order to ship. Although its probably better if it doesn't arrive tomorrow. I have a lot of stuff to do for class, and if it comes tomorrow theres no way in hell I'll get any of it done.

Wow, I'll be heading back to gamestop in a bit because the line is a couple to a few hundred peope deep. I talked to one of the employees who were out there and he said as the line was, it would probably take an hour to get through. More people are going to show up of course though.
I stopped in Meijer (like a walmart, but based in Michigan and only in the midwest) and there were probably 50-100 people in there.
This is a smallish town, but it has a Division I university in it. (Central Michigan University)
It will be amazing if the servers hold up.

just picked it up and so far its cool. i got to the snow mission, but my game froze up on me during the scene where McTavish thinks he's spotted. anyone else have this happen to them?

btw, there were about 200 people in line at gamestop lol. i drove 2 blocks down to the mom-n-pop shop and was the first one there. a few trickled right in after me no wait, no fuss, no nerds
