Didn't see anything stickied or when I searched for memorial, so thought I'd create a thread.

Thanks to all of the veterans and especially all of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could enjoy the freedoms we have today. In between all of the shopping, drinking and barbeques today, lets all please take a moment to remember why we have this day.

It wasn't always easy and it wasn't always fair,
but when freedom called
We answered.
We were there.

Thanks to each and every one who answered; who was there.

Went to the memorial service in a town near by me (Oak Hill Park in San Ramon), I was there from 11 to 2. Towards the end a lincoln impersonator did a small speech and then later a 30 minute story of his life, the 30 minute story had a much smaller group and was relatively enjoyable to see. Took some pictures but didn't get to take very good pictures of the pilots flying over in the WWII planes :( The planes were so low you could see very intricate details of the planes, very very awesome. :) I'm glad I went and I feel good that for the first time, I actually did something to acknowledge our veterans. I did this by my self, offered the dad to come but he was busy with other things.

5-29-2006 CBS cameraman, soundman killed in Iraq

While that is tragic I don't really see any comparison between those who enlist and those who willingly carry a camera into a hostile area solely for fame and fortune.

For all fallen soldiers and a solid Thank You! to all of our military men and women though.
