Sorry to hear about the down side of Mardi Gras from the two replys above. But anywhere can be Mardi Gras if you have the right frame of mind! (Speaking of which, Mardi Gras actually started in Mobile, Alabama 20 years before New Orleans - they just have better PR; also Galvaston, TX had MG 10 yrs before New Orleans).
We're having a block party in NC this weekend. Dookie (Duke) girls get beads to keep their shirts on! Really, just kidding...
Anyway, here's some Hurricane recipes for you to try at your MG party:
Simple Hurricane
Ingredients:
1.0 splash Grenadine
2.0 oz Orange juice
4.0 oz Pineapple Juice
1.0 shot Meyers Dark Rum
Directions: mix the Meyers dark Rum, Pineapple juice, and orange
juice, and stir. Then splash enough grenadine to turn the drink red.
A Dark and Nasty Hurricane
Ingredients:
1.0 oz. Cranberry juice
1.0 oz. Orange juice
1.0 oz. coconut Rum
1.0 oz. Rum
1.0 oz. Light Rum
0.5 oz. 151 Proof Rum
Directions: Mix all but 151 with ice and pour into collins glass.
Float 151 on top.
