I like the natural scrolling it now matches the way i scroll through spaces

This is the kicker. I like it for that too, but hate it for webpages and scrolling through other windows with extra content.

But changing it means changing it for both. I want natural scrolling for switching spaces and non-natural scrolling for webpages, but I can't really have that.

Install went well. but Firefox is a bit effed and TimeMachine to my WHS server has been killed due to the AFP requirement. Anyone got a fix for TM to WHS?

Yeah mine doesn't work anymore either. Whats AFP?
Apple's native file sharing protocol. Most mid-range and up NAS units should implement AFP.

Is this Time Machine problem because Lion dumped Samba?

Does TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes no longer work?

Yes they did. They created their own implementation that doesn't work with stuff that is at least 5 years old, but Active Directory does work.
Hmm, well that's not quite true. I can connect to my WHS share using smb://hostname/share in the Go>Connect to Server menu in Finder, so samba compatibility is still there.

OK,NAS issue is potentially fixed. I've not tested this but the theory is good:

As previously mentioned, OS X Lion does not support logging into NAS boxes running Samba or AFP servers that employ the DHCAST128 authentication method. Apple documented this as a security update, in which they outright disabled DHCAST128 in Lion.

People who are running type of NAS system – FreeNAS or store bought boxes will not work in Lion!

Now some people have figured out a workaround to manually enable DHCAST128 in Lion, so if you don’t mind a little hacking in the system go ahead and use it.

Hack:

I'm just going to re-enable dhcast128 and hopefully that will enable the login to my share in TimeMachine. I'll update with results tomorrow.

Holy carp. I'm glad I didn't just rush out and upgrade. Looks like there's plenty of reason to sit and wait. Thanks for being the early adopters, folks.

I have yet to run into any issues.

Yeah, and my app store problem seems to have solved itself. The only problem that remains is the WHS backup, which is an unsupported feature anyway. Its been remarkably bug free for the most part.

I think people like to talk about problems more than people who have no problems.

To be fair it's pretty much all NAS systems, not just WHS. It's a big deal for those of us that like to back up.

Well my WHS is self built and not the mediasmart variety, so I've always had to do the same hacks for any NAS. It's something I expect will be sorted out soon as people get around to hacking it, until then, USB external drives are cheap.

Mine is self-built, too. I've posted a hack, above, but not tested it myself yet. Want to give it a go? :)

I'm still having problems with Lion and iTunes and updating free apps. I've read that it's more an iTunes problem, but I can't figure out a workaround to update my apps (besides actually updating them on the device).

My list of complaints are:
-after updating to lion, Real VNC Enterprise is no longer capturing the screen properly in any vnc viewer.
-ssh login before logging into an account (Ie: computer was suspended, and was awoken by the ssh request) causes any scripts to hang until you at least push a key on the local mac.

Other than that I just don't really approve of Apples direction here. I mean if I wanted my desktop to be a big iPad I would just use an iPad. I think Apple is going to regret going down this path of the PC is dead.

The PC will never be replaced, only the dimensions will change, and a half baked OS like iOS or Android will never replace a full up Desktop OS. When they do it'll be because they have become a full up OS themselves.

I think that has something to do with how they implemented it. The new feature of being able to log into a "virtual desktop" if someone else is logged in prompts a screen to choose if you're trying to remote from another computer. You don't get that screen prompt in VNC viewers.

Well I've been dialoing with Real VNC folks about it, and they seem to think it has something to do with how the desktop and the new expose features work. The APIs for those two things have changed significantly, effectively breaking the current screen capture methods.

Apparently they are working it el pronto and should have a fix out soon.
