What's your opinion on the "American Taliban," should be convicted of more or less treason charges or should he be set free?

I say we should revoke his citizenship, and permanently exile his dumb ass. Shoot him on sight if he ever sets foot on U.S. soil. Tatoo him with both "American Traitor for the Taliban" and a big Star of David so that no one on earth will have anything to do with him. Let him walk the earth forever like the legend of the wandering jew, or Cain from Kung Fu.

i'm not sure he did anything worthy of execution as i understand he was just some lowly foot soilder, i agree with glen, revoke his citezen ship and kick him out of the country.

"Technically", I don't think he is guilty of treason.
Morally, he most certainly is. Lock him up and throw away the key or exile him to Bumfuque.

He did levy War AND adhere with the enemy so he is guilty.

How ever the two witness deal makes it difficult to prove.

He should be Hung However I will be satified just having him rot in a little bitty room.

And for all you "he's just young and confused" sympithizers- Perhaps we should lock his parents in that room as well. If he WAS confused it is only because his praents gave him no direction.

I don't care about John Walker.

However, I think the proliferation of OFFICIAL / CONFIRMED threads needs to stop. There's several everyday. While I though it was kind of cool or unique at first, when there's several threads per day that are official & confirmed, it's not really cool or unique anymore.

John Walker joined the Taliban and was fighting against the Northern Alliance before the U.S. sent troops to Afghanistan. There was no crime in that. As a member of the Taliban he was isolated. He did not have access to the nightlly news on television or daily newspapers.

I believe he is a lowlife miscreant, but a traitor? Probably not.

I don't know what should be done with him because I don't have all of the facts. Hell, I don't even have 10% of the facts regarding his case.

I have done things in my past in the name of the U.S. of A. that would get me prison time in other circumstances.

I am willing to let the justice system play itself out. Most people get what they deserve.

He was so focused on the failings in western culture that he backed right into an equally flawed, albeit in different ways, facet of Islamic culture. I don't see how he could pose a threat if he was being monitored, wheres the compassion for a misguided kid in over his head?
